Blades players who were utterly shit with no redeeming qualities whatsoever (hard mode- nobody from the last decade)

The one in the photo is Steve Patterson - I'm not disputing that. I said I couldn't remember him. The one I was trying to think of was Mark Dempsey. Pictured below.

He played for us when he was a young lad. He was another one of those that came from Man U with the promise of being a great future player but he never went on to really live up to his billing. Coach now at Man U apparently.
Do you know the connection to potters picture place ?

Here’s a few nuggets straight off the top of my head but the list will be extensive !

Nyron ‘ triangle head ‘ Nosworthy
Paul Richardson
Paul Williams
Geoff Horsfield
James Harper
Marlon King
Higdon
John Ebrell
Nicky Johns
Andy Leaning

Side note: He played for us before I was born but Andy Leaning was my Goalkeeping coach when I played in Chesterfield's development teams and I've resented him ever since. Very much from the 'drill sergeant school of coaching, never any praise or encouragement which was a bit OTT for 10-14yr old kids. Must have done something right to land a job coaching for us.

Throwing David Sommeil into the ring. Another 'good signing on paper', a right back with top flight experience and having played at Marseille and Bordeaux. Nope, he was slow, never got close to his man defending and doubt he got forward enough to put a cross in. Lasted 5 games before being bombed out for Kozluk - think he made one more appearance that season as a centre-back in the FA Cup to Swansea (Then of League 1)

Sommeil is a great call he never seemed to get close enough to a player to make a tackle but sometimes got there in time to foul them. Was trying to remember his name and when we signed him thought 'good solid signing lots of Prem experience that's one position sorted'.

Leon Britton he was gash for us but half decent before he came for Swansea and again after he went back. I thought he was a good signing, he was shit.
Think that was more the Kevin blackhead’s ‘system’ than the player. He got a sore neck watching the ball fly over his head for 90 minutes. I’d like to see him in today’s team and he clearly had talent as demonstrated at scfc.
Remember the Liverpool fans singing what a waste of talent when Quasimodo Beardsley played for Everton; similar.

A couple more remembered:

Paul Holland and James Harper, the former signed from Mansfield by Bassett, but well out of his depth in the championship, division one as it was known then. Thought the latter was a lazy phuck of a big time Charlie!!

Tbf though, no one can really say that Thirlwell was shit though, as they would have needed to see him kick the feckin ball at some point, and the jury is out on whether anyone actually saw the lazy arsed twat ever do that in a Utd shirt.

A few names from me, Lee Baxter, Andy Goram, Andy Leaning, Andy Barnsley, Paul Richardson, Tony Moore, Steve Charles, Paddy McGeeny, Mark Blount, Mark Foran, Paul fall on mi arse Williams, Barry Butlin, Jordan Stewart, Marcus Williams, Nyron Nosworthy, Mark the coward Howard, Phil Thompson, Tony Towner, Steve Cammack, Pedro Verde, Les Tibbott, Johnthan Cullen, Cliff Powell, Peter Withe, Wally Downes, Darren Carr, Davy Gijetbrechts, Axel Smeets, Terry Cunt-an, Derek Richardson, Michael Twiss, Billy Paynter, Simon Lappin, Johannes Ertl, Darryl Westlake, Marlon King, Michael Hippo Higdon, Jay McEveley, Dean Hammond, Don Peattie, Stewart Houston, Jimmy Johnstone, Steve Faulkner, Trenton Wigan, Martyn Woolford, Len de Goey, Laurent Tenshovels, Jeff Eckhardt, and Ian Hamilton.

Total shite, every one of em.

One name stands out in that list, one of Scotlands greatest ever footballers, but sadly as you say Weasel absolute way past his best when he came to the Lane.

Apparently Jimmy J had seriously taken to the bottle by the time that he signed for us, and was more dedicated to hitting the pubs and clubs of Sheffield and Yorkshire and liking the attention of the ladies, than putting in a shift on the pitch. He was at BL purely for the pay cheque and the booze.

Shame we never saw the real player, because as you say, he had been a terrific player at Celtic. But at the Lane, he was lazy and crap. Mind u, at least he did once have the ability, most on my previous list should never have made it as pro's in the game and were stealing a living all whilst making us suffer the delights of watching them be simply dreadful.

Can’t believe it took till page 4 before the words Andy Barnsley were said.
To make matters worse he then became my bank manager...

One for "the future"....

A dystopian future. Were in amongst all the cyber punks and replicants lurks a more dangerous opponent. The one that never is seen in the Blades first team. The one masking his abilities as a footballer. Mamadou Seck....

Dries Bousatta
Danny Culipp
Barry Hayles

All fell out with Warnock and was all shipped out.

Lee Baxter is rightly mentioned a few times. A more hapless half of football you may never see. But it was only a half.

Leaning played more than enough games to prove that he was utterly hopeless.
