I liked Alan Quinn too but I can't think of anything else memorable that he did for us except for score against the Pigs. Stephen Quinn had far more memorable in a Blades shirt than Alan did.

I always thought Alan Quinn suited us, whilst he showed some real flashes of quality, it's was his aggression that stood out. Stephen certainly had the longer and more successful career with us though.

Always impressed that Stephen Quinn is still playing regular football for a Mansfield team that are doing well. Interestingly both he and his Nephew scored in a cup game the other week.

Brilliant - I was at that match - keep well Bill Blades legend.
I thought I'd been there at the match but I'm probably misremembering. I do seem to remember seeing a photo where Bill is poking the ball into the net and the defender is trying to take the shirt off his back. Maybe a year or two later, I worked with his nephew (I think) also called Bill Punton.

Not harsh because he scored in both games in the first top flight derbies since god was a lad, we won them both, did a memorable double that hasn’t been repeated since by either side (I don’t think - certainly not top flight) so in a way it absolutely should be what young Dane Whitehouse should be remembered for.
Also had the balls to take the penalty there in a 3-1 defeat when we were garbage. For some reason, I was watching highlights of the 97/98 season under Spackman, and he was on fire those first few months. What a team that was.

I can remember fans criticising Alan Quinn on Praise or Grumble because they felt we hadn't adequately replaced Brown and the midfield wasn't as effective anymore. For me he might not have scored as many as Brown did, not that Brown repeated it the season he left, but it was failing to replace McCall adequately that stopped our midfield ticking. We never had a decent replacement until we signed Gary Speed.

Alan Quinn was always positive with the ball and always turned to face goal and drive forwards, but he suffered from tunnel vision in that he usually ran straight into a player and had passing options available to his side, but he never looked for them as he was so keen on driving forward himself. This is what Rak-Sakyi is guilty of this season.

I hope Brewster goes on to become a player for us who is remembered for many good things, but he now has an achievement which must be quite rare, if not unique: scores a goal into the Kop end at Hillsborough one week, and scores a goal at the Bramall Lane Kop end the following week. A memorable week indeed.

In my 70 years of watching United, I can only think of 2 players whose careers with United are defined by their scoring match-winning goals against Wednesday. No other memory of them comes to mind, but I regard them as legends.
Bill Punton, signed from Norwich in 1966, scored 1 goal for United in 1967, a winning goal in a 1-0 defeat of Wednesday, scored in front of the Kop. Absolute legend, had a bald head, and nothing else comes to mind about his brief time at the Lane.
Bobby Davison, made his debut at Hillsborough in 1992, scored 2 goals in a 3-1 triumph. Absolute legend, I don’t remember any of his other 3 league goals for us.
And now, Tyrese Campbell, excellent winning goal on Sunday, in front of the Kop, absolute legend already. But I suspect in 2 years time I won’t remember his other 2 goals for us. Will he join this select group? I hope not, I would love him to go on and have a great career for us. Football is a funny old game.
Funny that. I can still visualise Punton scoring at the Kop end against Wednesday, Jesus that was 58 years ago. Cant remember what I did yesterday

Leon Clarke scored at the Hillsborough kop end (September 2017) and a few days later scored at the Shoreham end against Wolves.
