This lad from the back end of Clough's spell...

Who is that? I give up

Johnny Ertl.

"Ertl was a regular in the first team until an injury to his cruciate ligament ended his season in March 2011 and kept him out of the side for almost eight months as the team slipped into League One"

Wish i'd never remembered him now!

Seem to remember an Italian centre half we had for a while on the books but never played round 98/99.

We signed another player the same day as Bullock but don’t think he played against the pigs....any ideas?

Also Brian Deane 3rd spell. I’m sure he only made one sub appearance (Brighton at Home) but wiki says it’s 3.

Wasn’t it Neil Collins that signed on loan the same time as Bullock and played at Hillsborough? I also remember a player called James Thomas on loan from Blackburn who played in one of the worst derby games I have seen at the lane, nil nil and he missed a great chance near the end

Has Alan Fettis been said??? On loan from Hull when there were shitter than they are now. Remember Bramall Lane cheering with his first touch

Interesting. He always seemed quite tall compared with the rest of the players at the time, but I was only a kid!
Yes, as a player I always thought he was 5 feet 11 inches tall but at the reunion he was shorter than me (I am 5 foot 9 and half inches)

I'd forgotten that Dave Staniforth played for us, until Silent Blade put that pre-season pic up last week. Must have only made a dozen appearances, though.

I think his official height at the time was 6ft, & he played maybe 25 times for us all in I think. The height discrepancy is well know, men especially lose height as they age, I am about 3/4 of an inch shorter than I was in my 20's, I even have a medically confirmed reason for this but it is boring & anyway it isn't about me, just mentioning it in the context of the comments about Staniforth above.
