Anyone know why my Android phone (HTC Desire HD) won't play matches. It has a Flash Player and I've watched a Micky Adams interview previously.

It signs in to Blades Player, but when I go to the match it just says 'Off Air'.

I have the same problem with my phone. Can play videos on Blades Player but no commentary. Running Android 2.1 and using the Skyfire browser, which is supposed to support Flash. Only Android 2.2 officially supports Flash.

The help section is a joke. It doesn't even mention Android.

I think it's to do with copyright. They could easily make it available on any platform, such as Real Player or Media Player, but they don't want people re-broadcasting it.

Saying that, the club (or the company that provides the streaming media) should acknowledge that many subscribers want to listen to the commentary on their phones, not on a stationary computer, and a solution should be found. It would make a big difference to me. It would be great to be able to go to the gym, park or shops and still listen to the match.

the blades should break the norm and offer live streaming of every game, free for all across the globe as a thank you for support, a gesture like that might just mend a few bridges with disgruntled fans that pay for bladesplayer only to find it poor quality (see meet the manager thread) or in some cases no service or serice down during games, live streams in standard formats would please many blades thru out the uk and around the world, maybe could be brought up in future meetings.

I seem to remember that it would only play on internet explorer because of the security settings tied to it

As far as I know they are tied into a contract with Premium TV as is every Championship club, and it would be a breach of contract for the club to broadcast commentary on its own games.

A few years ago we had a unique website, which didn't look at all like the generic, uninspiring site we have today

i'd like the contract with premium tv brought up at the next BIFF meeting. As a fan i don't like the fact all of the websites for football league clubs are virtually identical, a club should have its own identity on the web.

Would I be right in thinking then, that if I had a Windows 7 phone that the commentary would work?

If so, then something should be done to make it play on Android, iOS & Symbian.

As far as i know it, used to be on Windows & Internet Explorer only because it was Windows Media player based. They've moved over to flash based technology, so in theory it should work on on any platform that supports flash.

Perhaps they just haven't got round to implementing a mobile view yet? (though that would be a pretty epic fail f they hadn't)

Epic fail and SUFC in the same sentence, surely not?

Oh.......

Who said anything about sufc? It's premiumTV that should be taking the blame here not the club.

If it is indeed their fault, and not a problem with your mobile.

The contract was lucrative at the time (before the collapse) and was quite a long one. It's something which has been asked by a number of people in the past.

I had the commentary on as I traveled round the city on foot yesterday. It involved headphones connected to a netbook in my backpack with the commentary on, using the phone as a modem to keep a constant wi fi signal. A bit complicated, and wouldn't be practical at e.g. the gym, but it worked fine.

Heath Robinson would be proud!:)
