Completely agree. My 90y old dad was standing with me before the match, bobbing his head up and down and saying how much he was enjoying the pre match music ( “No more heroes anymore” by The Stranglers ). Really, dad!

I thought it was very well done and as I've said before, I think Sinclair is the best in the business at it. I've also said before that I'm sick of the match being interrupted when in play by having a minute's applause for this person or that person. So I thought this was so much better yesterday. It was poignant, respectful, moving even, and it was done at the appropriate time, i.e. when the match is NOT in play. Well done Sheffield United.

Why was the list so long though? I agree with Yellarbellyblade on this. One of the first names up was that of ex-player, Ian Mackenzie. He passed away in September last year. So, why on the list now?

We've nearly got it right. And seeing as I suggested this approach on here I'll provide a bit more information. When I suggested having the names of those who have passed away up on screen, I wasn't referring to obituaries since 1889. Rather, I was suggesting any that had passed away since the previous home fixture. If we could maybe just do that for future we'd have a manageable list of names and a respectful tribute.

And for those that still prefer to have their match interrupted by one minute's applause instead, just be grateful that we didn't give all those names on the list yesterday a minute's applause, because there were at least 90 of them.
