.....................John Carver!

Bobby Robson's no 2 at newcastle.

RS reported this morning (although I didn't hear it)

Also reported in this mornings Sun

I listended to RS this morning, they speculated it could be him because he had worked with Ellis and Speed but didnt confirm it as such.

What has he learned from Blackwell?

Hopefully it will be along the lines of "How NOT to..........."

Are people just glossing over (or just ignoring) the fact that Carver has been Blackwell's assistant twice ?

On the plus side, I notice he rejected a move to become Laws' No.2 at Burnley earlier this year although he did say that it was partly down to loyalty to Plymouth.

It's a bit of an odd one granted (if it is him that is). Fact of the matter is that it could also be completely coincidental. Speed worked with him and Sir Bobby at Newcastle. After than, Carver became part of two separate Blackwell teams. Had Speed not already been at the club when Blackwell joined, perhaps Carver would have already been here.

Wasn't Carver at Leeds with Blackwell?

2004 Newcastle - Assistant to Robson, briefly caretaker when Robson was sacked
2005 Leeds - coach under Blackwell/Ellis, promoted to Asst when Ellis left, caretaker briefly when KB sacked
2007 Luton - coach under Blackwell/Ellis until they all left
2008 Toronto - head coach
2009 Plymouth - coach under Mariner

That's all very well but surely his finest achievement must be the treaty of alliance he made with Chief Massasoit of the Wampanoag tribe in 1621:-

to be fair they were 3 down within 20 mins and playing god awful football. Massasoit was lucky to last that long.

We've been granted permission to talk to him according to the Plymouth OS.

Was Carver one of the people that Warnock had a bit of a scrap with in the match following the Cardiff promotion game? I seem to remember:

- a dodgy challenge on one of our players
- a reaction at the touchline, involving Warnock and Blackwell an/or Carver
- Warnock sent to the stands (think Poll was the ref)
