So blades fans it's nearly time for the fun and games to begin. After watching pre season so far and the way the lads are playing. If you were to get a couple more bodies through the door and Deano and the rest of the squad as it is how do you all think the boys will do. I will let you know how I think they will get on. other than Liverpool and city who will press you like you've never been pressed before spurs are good on there day not a thing to worry about stay up all day long

I'm confused, are you a Manchester City fan AND Sheffield United fan, or one of either? Your post makes it sound like your a Sheff United fan then you use the world "you" as if you aren't.

Nothing wrong with either btw.

Why sully the word Blade with MCFC? That’s like putting a coloured sock in with a white wash. We are a fully formed, full functioning football club. We don’t need half n halfers at the lane.

Hi mate. Thanks again for the reply to my Kean Bryan post.
I'm both concerned and confident.
Concerned because right now we have neither a keeper or a goalscorer I feel can keep us up.
Confident because we do have an incredible manager.
We need to score goals and be stingy at the back although we probably will get a few spankings.
Just hope we don't sign Hart. Down by Xmas if so.

I think we’ll be sound and it’s good that you take an interest in us, it shows how far we’ve come that we have fans and plaudits coming from everywhere because every twat normally hates us. Luckily, as a fan base we don’t mind it like that. 😉

M brown d Brooks k Bryan all came from 1 club I ain't no wensday fan mate

Whoa... hold on there John Wayne.
You're better than this.
No mention of yourself being a PIG.
If you were to travel across the divide to the link provided, you'll see what we have to deal with in Sheffield.
Now John, as you were.

Must be a Sheffield thing my apologies big man

Hmmmmm am getting an aroma of Prestonblade, whiffs of Billy the Kid/William H Bonney and possible a plethora of other IDs here.

We’re from Sheffield and “Outstanding” equals “not bad” here.

We never get beyond ourselves with enthusiasm. Rather, we’d prefer to anticipate disaster then take comfort in it not happening.

But despite all that, I think the things massively in our favour are the team spirit, the (perhaps) unrecognised quality of some of the players, and not least the manager who is one in a million tbh. The way he sets the team up to play and the unconventional approach will be quite unique to the Prem. It should be a refreshing change to how most teams go about it.

I don’t expect us to be amongst the top 8, I just don’t think we’ll have the quality in depth to do that. But beyond that point I honestly think we will give some teams kittens. I think we will more than hold our own.

I don’t expect us to win anything but I do expect us to survive, comfortably, and I think we’ll be a surprise and a breath of fresh air to the Prem because we’ll do it differently and break the mold.

How will we do in the prem? ......... well I think a lot will depend on our attitude and mental strength. If we believe we deserve to be there, are equal to most other teams and play to our strengths in a confident manner, then I think we will be ok. I think with the additions we have already brought in - Jags in particular is masterstroke here - we will be just fine. Jags will be a very calm (been there, done that) figure out on that pitch, and in the dressing room psyching the players up.

I am reasonably confident that we will end up about 6 or 7 from bottom - but never really in danger of going down. Then next season, we continue the Wilder evolution, continue to strengthen and consolidate our position further. Unfortunately, we have no chance of ever breaking into the top 6 (crazy money is needed for that) but who knows, perhaps in a 3 or 4 seasons time there's every chance of landing a cup every now and again and playing European football.

I’ve heard that Citeh fans fondly remember Tracey & Beesley’s time at maine road, and often pick them in their all time XI’s. 😂

I think realistically we should be happy with 4th from bottom. I think the keeper situation is absolutely key to our chances. I believe our biggest signing in terms of the outcome of our season depends on getting Henderson back on loan. Not because I think he's the greatest keeper in the world, although he is good, but just because of the understanding he's already built with our defenders. Apart from Jags who I expect won't start, the rest of the defense is the same as last season, which had the most clean sheets and conceded the fewest in the Championship.

Sometimes I honestly think we'll be alright and we'll do quite well, but then when you look at all the other teams and the players they've got and how much money they're throwing about, it makes you wonder. I'm determined to enjoy the season no matter what happens, but the important factor for me is that our owners (whoever that ends up being!) keep their nerve and stick with Wilder. We've got a fantastic manager and we need to keep him, even if we get relegated. Allow him to build something as he has been doing for the last 3 years.

How about Citeh? Will you win the League again? Worried about Liverpool? Will you finally win the Champs League? Must be awful having all these concerns.

As long as the rest of the Prem teams get their players registered correctly we'll do just fine.

From seventh spot down they are all much of the same and even the Gooners, Spurs and Lampards mob can be dodgy travellers. 13 wins will keep us in there and I'm pretty sure CW can conjure up that and more.

It’s fine to be optimistic but it’s probably going to be a struggle and at times it may look bleak. We’ll find out who really does trust in Wilder when we lose four or five in a row.

I admire your optimism, but 4 or 5, I think it will be less than that, 2 is my guess.

It’s going to be a bumpy ride with plenty of turbulence , but I totally trust our pilot.

You can study signings, line ups etc etc.

BUT there’s one massive factor that could override everything

The fact shows that whatever you expect from Chris Wilder he has this amazing skill of doing better, sometimes much better that everyone (including Blades) expects.
It’s so easy and kind of insulting to say it’s mainly down to organisation, team spirit, working hard or momentum.

The facts show that Wilder can sign previously average/ half decent quality players then after a few weeks they perform like high quality players.

So using logic I expect us to finish 1 or 2 places just above the relegation zone
But using the Wilder factor then I expect comfortable mid table.
Really believe that Wilder is going to enhance his reputation massively this year and take the PL by storm playing high quality attacking football.
This could be our last season with Wilder because next season a club just outside the top 6, like an Everton could be after him.

While I agree that Wilder is key to our success, two points are worth taking into account regarding his future.
1. His policy of buying young hungry players who fit his work ethos. His future aligned with theirs.
2. The team spirit he and senior players have developed. Just consider how all the new lads have been welcomed into the fold, even when some of the current team have their places under threat. That hasn't happened overnight.

All this tells me that Wilder is here for the long haul. Someone who can look back as a ball boy and ex player, and see his boyhood club in the future, challenging for european football and domestic trophy's.
Why would he want to do that anywhere else?
