Actually, parts of the French police are linked to the military, which are the Gendarmerie and there is also the riot police known as the CRS, and both organisations are known not to be messed with. There is also the normal Police who patrol towns and cities. I have no idea who was involved, but I would guess that the normal Police were involved at first and couldn't control the situation with either the Gendarmerie or CRS being the ones later with the stun grenades and water cannon.

The security at the ground was a joke I agree and is surprising. The lack of police in attendance and the non reaction of the stewards at least initially but I have seen it reported that this was under UEFA's control, which I can well believe. Still surprised given the current security worries that any such device got in the ground and the police didn't stop it. Given the high terrorist threat I actually can't believe anyone even considered taking such devices into the ground but it is very concerning just how under prepared the authorities seem to have been and I suspect that for future games the CRS will be highly visible.

OK people go over the top, especially when drinks involved, but sometimes you have to defend yourselves and/or your friends/family, you can't always run away, sometimes it's not an option, so calling people names an assuming they're "MONGS" is abit shitty in my book, these lads are from chesterfield, I've seen and spoken to them in the town when I've been working the doors and as I remember, they're actually quite well spoken lads, not dickhead or idiots, just normal lads wanting to enjoy a week away, a few beers n abit of footy, sounds good to me.
Maybe try looking at it from the otherside.
Sorry but everyone deserves a fair crack, I understand there will be a load of idiots that have gone over for abit of trouble, but the majority are just innocent people caught in the middle.

It wouldn't surprise me if this all kicks-off again on Wednesday and Thursday, Lille and Lens only 25 mins apart, both towns easily nearer to Dover than Paris. I have seen loads of footage and some of it is incredible, why have we had 6 people put in jail but the Russians have only had 2 fans arrested and that was for invading the pitch? For the authorities to say they couldn't arrest any Russians for the disturbances because they were too quick is utter bollocks.

There is a video of about 6 Russians kicking the living daylights out of one our own yet the riot police only manage to wade in when they see fit, only to grab 2 of the Russians, they get them away as quickly as possible before they got lifted, it was pretty sinister from the riot police. The whole thing stinks of a set up to me.

Also, how come nothings happening with the hosts after their fuckwits attacked us, then the Russians, only for some reason for this to be put on the back burner so to speak?

From what I've read the russian football federation via the russian supporters club put on free travel from Moscow to France, as I understand it now, there will be only normal russian fans at the next 2 group games?? A huge percentage of the "ultras" went home only 2 hours after the final whistle in Marseille.. Clearly SOME english fans will want retribution but the ones they want to fight won't be there,it will be just normal russian fans and family's... It stinks it seems this has been well planned and in general england fans have been set up..

Sorry to be a pedant but it was only 1 day before the Russians arrived and this was with the French ultras who travelled from all over the country just to have a pop. It was clearly organised and this is how they've escaped being arrested and jailed for longer than those England fans in shirts, some with their families, just for sticking up for themselves. It fucking stinks and there isn't a cat in hells chance that any French or Russians will receive jail over this, not a chance.

As I said further up, it was the French who started this and they seem to be getting away with it without a mention from their minister or any other slimy fucker who doesn't like us, well the feeling is fucking mutual.
