Whatever some folk may say about BIFA, at least they were an actual structured movement formed with the intention of giving the supporters a direct voice.
We have nothing of the sort now. Just people pissing and moaning on the internet, whilst everyone else scoffs at the idea of any form of organised dissent.
And for the record I'm not strictly anti-McCabe either. I just think that those who are should walk the talk.
You have a point about BIFA. Started for the right reasons and needed at the time. Football is a totally different animal now though. Fans come some way down the order of financial importance since TV fucked the game up. A movement like BIFA these days would be mocked and no one take it seriously.
I'm not anti McCabe either but he has made some astonishingly bad decisions for a man who has made such wealth in the manner he has.
The problem with organised dissent these days is we don't actually matter to the club any longer.
I'm not so sure. I believe that if we had a situation whereby McCabe was as big a bastard as say Oyston or whoever the pillock is who runs Charlton for instance, then such a movement would be quite significant.
Provided that enough people pulled together and the action was sustained. I think fan-power can still effect change.
I went, and voted, at one of the first meetings on the city hall. From memory membership cost just a few quid.Any members on here linked to BIFA, just curious.![]()
Agree to an extent but his bad decisions have mainly been managers ,only the departure of Warnock and Robson appointment were recognised as bad decisions at the time and that wasn't universal. The ground is fantastic ,I love the what he has made the Lane into , and the crowds are ridiculous ,if the managers had held up their side of the deal ,McCabe would be hero. You have a point about BIFA. I think most of his decisions to invest into other areas to broaden our income streams were disastrous. The hotel, Chengdu, the health clubs - all well intentioned stuff - all hugely expensive flops.Agree to an extent but his bad decisions have mainly been managers ,only the departure of Warnock and Robson appointment were recognised as bad decisions at the time and that wasn't universal. I was a member. Seem to remember that the first meeting was in a WMC maybe Gleadless? My memory is shite!Any members on here linked to BIFA, just curious.![]()

None of them come near to Robson though.

Chengdu Blades were just a shit idea, pre recession or not.Property ventures just before the longest and deepest recession in living memory . We weren't the only ones caught out by that !
Agreed on one thing though Alco . Everything before and after pales into insignificance at the side of Robson . What the fuck were you thinking there Kev ????

In any case, his good intentions aren't in doubt for me. But the reality is that the club has been on the arse end of countless bad decisions, whatever part luck or judgment played.

Chengdu Blades was a great idea ..... its j
Chengdu Blades was a brilliant and startlingly innovative idea . Sheffield as a whole are benefitting very nicely from some of the links nurtured in that venture . Just our fucking luck to tie up with a bunch of crooks on a club level .
Our grounds a lot better than it was though and the attendances are better than any of us believe and the training facilities are first rate and the academy is pretty good and the cost of attending games is reasonable and .......
If it wasn't for that one huge fucking mistake in appointing Robson things would be pretty good really .
Was that the one opposite the New South Stand (or the cricket pavilion for Silent Blade) ?I remember the John Street Stand.
