Were you one of the estimated 300-400 Blades in the Haringay Irish Centre last night?

If so, what a great place before a game - 10 minutes from the ground and a massive room to meet, have a drink and get something to eat. They actually made "real" beefburgers. not your plastic stuff.

A couple of Blades in front in the queue asked for a chip buttie........."what do you mean" came the reply......you mean chips and a roll?".............in the end the Irish fella serving (and to be fair, a lovely bloke) was calling them chip butties! and asking his missus.........where's " chip buttie" on the till darling!!

Anyway, the Irish in Haringay are now enlightened on what a chip buttie is.

As for the support in the ground - you were absolutely MAGNIFICENT. We were in upper tier and it was fabulous, none stop noise from virtually everyone. A truly great effort by the fans.

As for Spurs - they've only got 2 songs - crap support.

Same support next week please - G & H block will take the piss out of Spurs, Kop.......you need to reproduce last nights noise.

UTB - Loud and Proud.

It's HaringEy :-)

I lived in the borough for 25 years. The borough itself is called Haringey, but there is a district within it (that I lived in) called Harringay. All very confusing....

<In a heavy Irish accent> "Would you like butter in your bread?"

"Can I have a burger?"

<Still in a heavy Irish accent>"Yeah, would you like butter on the bread?"

"I just want a burger"

Whoever it was in front of me in the queue having this conversation must have thought we were on an away day in a foreign country.

It was a great spot. My uncle is a Spurs season ticket holder and recommended it as the place he always parks. I was amazed to see it was pretty much overrun with Blades. Nice atmosphere there as well. Credit to our fans.

We ended up in 'The Crocodile' bar. Some kind of Eastern European bar. At first only us in there, so lacked a good sing song. But at least it was easy to get a drink all be it from a can.

Crap support ho hum. Thatll be the crap support that to over 10k to Milan or 2500 to Burnley on a Mon night for a cup game and talking 5500 to Sheff next week. Or took over 1k away to a youth game a couple of seasons back.

No, that would be the crap home support. 34,000 who couldnt really be arsed to sing during a Cup Semi Final. I am still amazed at how lethargic Spurs appeared last night, it's by far and away their best chance of silverware this year it being a Semi Final against a team two divisions lower. United have more chance of going up automatically than Spurs do of making the top 4. So yes, it was a crap support.

I was stood right at the back of the lower tier, and from in there is sounded like we were making a hell of a racket.

What I was dissapointed with was the lack of atmosphere from the home fans, I've always wanted to go to WHL as I always thought it was a place that rocked with every match, but it seemed quiet and soulless. I'm sure it's not always the case, but seemed it last night, I didn't hear a peep from the home crowd over our noise.

I rarely go to the proper Lane these days as I have to pick and choose my matches due to work commitments and prefer to go away from home because the atmosphere in a group of away fans is always better than the stands at home (with the odd exception e.g Forest at home last year). I don't think it's a slight aimed at you or your club, as I'm sure you make a good atmosphere most matches (as I had hoped for and was excited to experience ) but last night, from my part of the away end, it was like we were the only ones there to have some fun.

I'm sure we'll hear a lot of noise from your away followers next week.

The ground has plenty of 'soul'. Whatever else, it's a real old school sort of venue which has always seemed to have Tardis-like qualities of seeming much bigger on the inside than the outside.

If you say so mate. I'm dropping the subject until next week. If you are as good as you say you are I will put my hands up and give you props.

Actually, I just recalled my last trip to WHL which was with my father in law who is a Fulham fan and I sat in the away end. It was the last match of the season a few years back and Spurs won 2-0, the day that Arsenal won at West Brom to gurantee 4th place. There was an excellent atmosphere from the Spurs fans that day, especially when it went round the ground (incorrectly) that Arsenal were losing. I was expecting something similar last night, but that perhaps says more about how the League Cup is seen these days by the Premier League sides...that's more of a comment on football in general these days than having a pop at Spurs as a club.

Is that all? I'd do your research before you boast about away youth game attendances on a Sheffield United forum!

We'll not mention how many we took away to Old Trafford in the youth cup a few seasons back ;)

But please play nicely gentlemen. We do welcome fans of opposition teams however, I can't account for people taking offence at the obvious bias all posters on here will have towards their own team.

Fair enough. I will re-holster my keyboard!

I think there's also a bit of "windeyuppery". Don't take it personally, Spurs x

Remind me how many we did take to Old Trafford in the youth cup the other year...

seeing as this thread's becoming a bit of a love-in, I'd like to point out that I actually quite like spurs, whenever I catch them on tv they seem to play some nice stuff

(6000 away fans to Old Trafford for a youth match btw :p)

Away fans are always noisier than home games. I'm sure Spurs will make a lot of noise. Our own extremes at home are quite vivid. Us at home to Scunny et al never seems to generate much of an atmosphere, contrast to say when we beat Arsenal and Jags went in net and was one of my favourite atmospheres. Or more recently the Forest and Charlton games were brilliant last year. I'd suggest a lot of their fans were sat back wondering why they weren't three up at half time, like we do when we play Yeovil or someone we feel we are superior to. I'd imagine ticketing allocation will be a bit more of a mare at Spurs too in terms of managing to sit with like minded people. It's not usually that much of a problem at BDTBL.

You have completely missed the point - crap home support at the Spurs v Sheff U Capital One cup first leg last night.

It was absolutely crap HOME support last night. - A bit of noise to our right inthe upper tier from Spurs fans and a bit of nose (a few times) during the game.

Now, I have no intention of having a go at Spurs for other games or as a club - just take it like a man, your support was poor last night - probably because majority of your fans expected to win and it was tough as we sat back and your team began to get desperate.

Finally well done for winning - balance of play suggests you did enough to win.

PLEASE PLAY THE SAME TEAM NEXT WEEK - if you do then you might lose. I doubt your manager will under estimate us again - or more importantly not really know how we play in cup games.

why? do you know that or only guessing.

Very much doubt it will be closed in the same way it wasn't closed last years for the cup games, or Southampton this season.

I am sat between G & H Blocks (ST holder) and bought my tickets some weeks ago and they are for the same seats, so G & H Blocks will be open!

You can take 100 thousand to Wembley and still have crap support if you sit on your arses keeping shtum for 90 minutes. Your fans were ridiculously underwhelming in comparison to ours. At the end of the day you think what you want but I watched the match back on Sky this afternoon and the only fans you can see and hear for 90 minutes are ours and your 5000 plus that you bring to "The Original Lane" next week will also be put in their place as well.

We frustrated you lot! We made a near first team Premier League team look remotely average. Check out the national boards, fans of teams throughout the nation have exactly the same opinion. This is why you lot were quiet for 90 minutes and this is why beer bellied grown men were having a pop at young teenagers outside the ground after the game!......Your managers excuses were comical as well "Sheffield United were Physical", that figures about reight, young reedy asked for Adebayor to rip his eyeballs out from his head after all.

Regardless of what happens next week remember one thing, it took 74 minutes and a penalty to beat a team 2 leagues below you.
