Reunion 25 years later. They were on parade before or during half time of the last game of the 1949-50 season. Beat Hull 5-0

My Uncle Fred (born 1922) didn’t go to the match but he claims he can remember the family celebrating. His mum took him into town to see the players with the Cup at the town hall. He’s too frail to get to games these days (even if fans were allowed) but he still follows the results and is a big fan of CW!

Billy Gillespie looks about 80 years old!

Died 6 weeks before his 90th birthday in 1981. He had full head of hair at the time he broke his leg in Sept 1914. When league football returned in 1919 many fans were surprised to see that his hair had gone!

I do remember seeing pictures of him in his playing days almost completely bald. A strong contrast to the very boyish Harry Johnson.

Recon whoever thought of getting the players together needs a vote of thanks from we who came after.
This photo, I remember, gave mi grandad a great deal of pleasure, although he didn't go he saw these players on many occasions, enthusing in telling me of there virtues.

Apparently it wasn't introduced until 1937!
