:hello:
As some of you may or may not be aware, this forum used to be but a small part of an independent Blades website. Through lack of love and time, Sheff-Utd in its original form ceased to be.
But now (well... in a couple of weeks) it returns. We've a new look, the same sort of content we had before, the same arguments with Football Dataco and the same hate mail and even voice mail we used to receive when we put something controversial up there.
We have even (.... pause for dramatic effect... ) got a new name. But you can find out more about that on launch day.
As ever, we invite your contributions to the site. The cream of the lengthy forum postings have been skimmed and put over there to add some bulk but we'd really like some up to date shizzle.
Our site has always been referred to as a fanzine in the past and that's a good way of thinking of it. Fans have now, for better or worse, moved on from reading the views of other fans in crudely printed booklets but there's no reason why those views should be lost. And there is no reason for those looking what others think to have to put up with the party line from the club all the time - the over-moderation of BU being a case in point.
The Flashing Blade was and still is one of the better fanzines out there... but we want to update that ethos for the 21st century.
If people want to get more regularly involved, we'd look at setting author accounts up on the new site so cut out Foxy and myself as middlemen (and ladies) but for the meantime, please PM me with any missives you wish the world to read.
Or for non-members of the forum who might be reading this... firstly, join the forum and secondly, you can email me at [email protected]
If you find yourself with a spare half an hour behind the keyboard... leave the porn alone and write us something. We can save you from going blind!
The kind of stuff we're looking for at the moment:
During the season, we'll also be looking for content to reflect the latest games and happenings round the club.
We do reserve the right to edit your articles for grammar and spelling purposes, but while I don't want to particularly court controversy... a brief dalliance does get our stuff read and leads to some particularly interesting feedback.
We want to be a voice of the fans who don't have to toe the line of some massive football network or corporation. So while we (I in particular) will endeavour to keep the new site breathing, it's up to you lot to give it life.
Fingers crossed, we're about three weeks away. The new site's twitter feed will be updated with the latest... and that shouldn't take too much of a genius to find.
More later
PS: We don't really keep an eye on the site stats very much, but last month, we received almost 10000 unique visitors and double the amount of hits we have ever had in a single month. So cheers to everyone who has spread the word.
Any problems or comments, you know where I am

The kind of stuff we're looking for at the moment:
- Memories of matches past
- Short biogs of your favourite players
- Lists... top 10 or top 100 of anything Blades related
- Reviews of Blades books
- If you're an exile... tell us more about why you're a Blade and the trials and tribulations you face trying to follow the club wherever you are
- Whatever else you can think of...
During the season, we'll also be looking for content to reflect the latest games and happenings round the club.
