Taken from the Star.......
KYLE Walker will not be allowed to represent England at the World Under-20 Championships in Egypt later this month, Sheffield United have confirmed.
The defender, who returned to Bramall Lane on loan after completing a £3 million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year, had been expected to be named in Brian Eastick's squad for the tournament which starts on September 24.
The Football Association recently informed clubs that they are under no obligation to release their players and Kevin Blackwell - whose goalkeeper, Paddy Kenny, is scheduled to face a Soho Square disciplinary hearing into his failed drug test later today - told The Star: "Kyle won't be going.
"We don't have to let him go and so we won't be. Kyle is not taking part.
"He would be away for a long time and for a crucial time.
"We don't believe it would be in either his or our best interests."
Spurs allowed United to decide whether Walker would be declared unavailable for selection despite signing the 19-year-old as part of an £8m package which also took Kyle Naughton to White Hart Lane.
Insisting there is no danger of his hardline stance provoking a rift between coaching staff and the young full-back, United's manager added: "Kyle doesn't have a problem with it.
"He agrees with us that he is better off staying here and continuing to represent this club.
"There are no difficulties at all."
Meanwhile, United hope Glen Little will be passed fit in time for Saturday's trip to Derby County.
The match, which kicks off at 1pm, could see the visitors stretch their unbeaten league run to six games and comes after they signed Jordan Stewart from Pride Park with Lee Hendrie travelling in the opposite direction.
Little has been battling against a knee ligament injury sustained soon after his arrival from Portsmouth earlier this summer.
