Home-Grown since 1980:-

____________Long
_____Walker Jagielka Maguire
Lowton Montgomery Tonge Whitehouse
____________S.Quinn
________Sharp Mendonca

Subs:- Tomlinson, Naughton, Eckhardt, Ward, Woodhouse, Brooks, DCL

Glad somebody else remembers Mendonca, he was the Pele of the youth world and I couldn't wait for him to play for the first team - we were going to rule the world!
But to paraphrase a great man, 'mmm alas, earwax.'

Didn't the OP say the team needed to include current professionals? Pretty sure lot's of those being named are retired or well past it.

Yes he did and we've respected that rule just as everybody respects FFP.

There was a young full back in the same academy as Ian Ross, the few times I saw him play he really stood out and I thought he’d go on to have a great career. Can’t remember his full name but pretty sure his surname was Beanes??? Awful hair do though and apparantly his Mrs at the time didn’t like him playing football which halted his career.

Nah, he was always shit. Too scared to even have a knock about with us at 5-aside :D

BUMP.

What would the Blades Academy XI look like now?

As per the OP. The players have to still be playing

Rammers
Walker
Maguire
Lopata?
Boyes

CJ Hamilton
Blaster
Slater
D.Brooks (if fit)

Ndiaye
DCL (if fit)

Bench
Long
A. Brooks
Osula
Jebbo/Ironside
Curtis/Seriki
Sachdev/Sasnaukas
Peck

I’ve gone 4-4-2 just because it’s the most simple formation and I’ll definitely have missed/forgotten some lads because I’ve done it quick but that’s what I’d go with. We’re a bit light at CB but that’s a handy squad

No Sharp!? 😮

See knew I’d miss someone out drop Jebbo/Ironside
Easily done with the gap!

Hard isn’t it? Seem to have a lot of attackers and wing backs. Less choice in central areas.

I’d probably have to go for some sort of 1930s formation with 5 up front.

Ramsdale

Walker
Maguire
K. McFadzean
Norrington Davies

Arblaster
Whiteman

A. Brooks
N’Daiye
D. Brooks

Calvert-Lewin

Subs:
Long
Naughton
Gomis
Peck
Hamilton
Sharp
Osula

It’s CB’s we’ve really struggled with in recent years outside of Maguire. Hopefully that changes with this next crop coming up

Maguire
W Quinn / Norrington Davies

Arblaster
Tonge / Slater

D Brooks
N’Diaye
A Brooks

Sharp

Bench:

Long
Naughton
Jebbison
Peck
S Quinn
Osula
DCL
Whiteman
CJ Hamilton

EDIT

Bollocks, misread and included retirees. Might as well have included Joe Shaw ffs.

Going for players that I've watched since first going to lane, 02/03.

--------------Ramsdale
Walker-Jags-Maguire-Naughton
-----------Arblaster-Tonge
-----D Brooks-Ndiaye-A Brooks
------------------Sharp

Subs: Long, Lowton, K McFadzean, RND, Whiteman, S Quinn, Peck, Osula, Jebbison

Honourable mention: DCL, only left him out because his career took off a few years after he left us.

Basing mine entirely on current ability. Some may miss out who were (at one time) better than those I pick as a result.

GK: Ramsdale. Bit of a non-contest this one, with George Long being a distant 2nd place in terms of career trajectory.

DF: Walker, Maguire, Kyle McFadzean, Rhys Norrington-Davies. First 2 are pretty obvious, Kyle M is still a Championship CB. RND is a more natural LB than Naughton, who has converted into a CB as his career has progressed into its latter stages.

MF: Regan Slater, Arblaster, Ben Whiteman. All 3 are Championship midfielders - anyone else in contention is playing at a lower level as far as I can tell.

FW: David Brooks, Calvert-Lewin, Ndiaye. All excellent PL players when fit. Brooks proved it with Bournemouth before his illness, DCL has been there for Everton for years at this point, and Ndiaye is comfortably the most gifted footballer we've ever produced.

Honourable mentions: Sharp, Naughton, Stephen Quinn
