Or perhaps, if we're tarring anyone missing chances with the shit brush, we ought to use it more freely given he's been far from the only on?

He's been offered up as our main striker unlike the rest. His abysmal strike record will cost us. Last night, his schoolboy miss from 6 yards saw us out of the cup and a potential revenue stream dry up.

We know we aren't wold beaters, but starting with the weakest link seems like fair game. Some have seen little wrong with any of our players as we've slid down the leagues. Blind faith in your team is fine, as long as we're clear that blind faith is what it is. Some hate everything about us. Seeing everything simply for what it is ( 8 in /57 now?) seems the most reasonable place to be.

Makes little difference as I'd be both astounded and disappointed if Weir hasn't very shortly worked this out for himself.

Still trying to figure out what Westlake was doing for the second goal. He seemed to be completely oblivious of the fact the ball was being crossed into a dangerous area, and he as a defender had a duty to intercept or at least challenge for the ball. Utterly useless defending.

Agree. He did well vs Notts County, but didn't create much vs Burton and he's got to show that he's prepared to get stuck in in situations like that.

Having seen him in the last 2 games I think he's been one of our better players overall.

I'd say the biggest dissapointment so far in defence has been Harry.

So many mistakes and so many unpunished.

The Porter love-in slowly evaporating?
Well bugger me, what a surprise.

...and it's Porter...through on goal...

:tumbleweed:

No, some people are being objective while others just make the jibes you expect in the primary school playground. What next, Porter is shitter than (insert name here). Oh sorry we have already had that one.

Yep, always amazes me that people don't see the benefits (financial, confidence, just plain winning) that a cup run brings.
Having a wank because we get dumped out of one third of the proper competitions we enter by mid August will never fail to astound me.

Me too. I'm doubting anyone would be bringing out the gimp over a cup defeat or is that just me?

I do think Porter gets a rough ride and thought he did pretty well on Friday. However, i've just seen the Burton highlights and there's an incident in the first half where their keeper flaps at the ball and all Porter has to do is head it into the empty net from 3 yards, but he's expecting to get flattened and completely bottles it. The ball ends up rolling down his leg and goes wide. Inexcusable that.

I think the difference between the two strikers was shown on Tuesday night. Porter is a team player first and foremost his unselfish play has set up opportunities for others. Unfortunately a fact that can't be escaped from is that despite being presented with at least four excellent chances over the first two games he has been unable to find the back of the net. When Taylor came on although he also failed to score he was not presented with similar chances to Porter and the chances he did have were all created by his single minded attitude. While Porter works for the team Taylors first and only thought is to score

No it doesn't. He headed it down and the keeper saved it.

It was a shocking miss, and he did bottle it but you're making it out to be even worse than it was. He just made the wrong decision trying to head it down.

I thought the 'Keeper was behind him at that point? Perhaps I'm misremembering.

Ah OK, but if he'd got a proper contact on it the 'Keeper would have had no chance!

I do agree, I'm not defending it any way but I'd rather the criticism be accurate :)

Like I said, all he had to do was head it straight but he tried to head it down for some reason. It's usually the right thing to do from crosses etc. but it was never the right option in that situation.

It was a really poor effort - his other opportunities were half-chances where he at least worked the keeper.

First time I've seen the highlights, surprised I haven't read more on the Doyle goal till now - lovely effort.

I said the same. The effort with his left foot was good, and he was unlucky not to score with that because it was a really good save. That's what worried me about Taylor when he came on, the two chances he created for himself were both dragged wide, which shows a lack of composure in front of goal.

It was an absolute belter!

I think Dave will have seen some players for there true limitations on Tues.

He will now have made his mind who to ditch.

Could some be now be heading out the exit door?
