At least thats the word on teletext today, anyone got any thoughts as to who they may be, or how true it is

Easy peazy just gi McCabe 7 or 8 more faces ! ...... no one wud notice .........he's got more than the town clock.

I heard he's signing 2 players called Martin Fox and Ross Morris.

The news story continued...

Kevin Blackwell said, "I have brought in these 2 players to lift team morale after losing at Wembley."

When asked about the qualities of each player Blackwell answered, "I have signed Martin [Fox] to show Nick Montgomery that his passing could be a lot worse. As for Ross [Morris] he has been brought in to demonstrate to Brian Howard how a proper tantrum is performed."

HAHA nice one Mousey. Still not sure how you can slag anyone's passing off!

I for one hope he is, he is different to what we have and I think a huge potential.

Think I'd welcome him to the Lane too - though a Canary mate of mine thought he was a bit stroppy and could go missing for games on end - that Latin temperament eh!! - or maybe it's just cos Norwich were crap this season :D

Be a useful addition - though not too sure he's that different from Jamie Ward (and from what we saw at Wembley - reckon Wardy's probably better at basketball too!)

Any word about payments to his club or the level of his wages??

Three strikers, two midfield players and one centre back and we are solid if they are of the same quality that we have now. If a couple can force their way into the starting eleven then things will be looking good.

I really hope not, our strike force and midifeld need improving, rather than adding numbers to them.

Hendo and Sharp out

Hendo and Sharp out

Yep, neither good enough. hendo only good for fetching off bench if we end up playing hoofball for last 20 mins to get a point

I disagree, Watford didnt play hoofball when they had Henderson and Marlon King as their strike partnership a couple of seasons ago. They actually played some attractive stuff and I have always rated Henderson. I think there's more to come from him, although I must admit his striking of the ball isn't the best, Henderson is very strong in the air.

I'm not sure i'd agree with that, yes I think Hendo is a decent target man and his touch, finishing etc aren't the best. But i also reckon Sharp could do ok alongside him as Beattie was never one for helping out his strike partner imo. I think with a bit more of the ball instead of chasing around and Sharp could finally come good. He got a hat-trick against QPR lets not forget, and i thought then he might finally fulfil his potential.
Also Sharp hasn't played much since Beattie left and Hendo's been playing.
While i'm playing devils advocate i also don't think Lupoli will add anything better than we already got

I agree in that i'd give Hendo at least one more season, but he should not be our main tally man, at Watford he played as understudy to Marlon King (goals wise) and United need something similar. Its not good relying on Hendo for 20 goals a season he's got 12-15 in him at best.

I dont think Sharp is the answer though. Its time to be abit more ruthless with our transfer activity at United, which involves selling those players that are just not upto the standard. By that I mainly mean Billy Sharp, Stephen Quinn, Lee Hendrie, Dave Carney and possibly Monty. If we sell Sharp, fair enough he'll probably score a good few for whoever, but he wont at United. Quinn I have lost all patience with, a superb start to the season, but by the end couldn't even make a pass. Monty I have more time for because in certain games he can be a match winner in is own right, but how many more pre-seasons does he need before learning to play football.

I'd have thought if 7 or 8 are coming in we'll be selling at least 4.

Are you insane? He's looked the most solid in our midfield for at least half the season. The only reason we should sell players is if we could get better in, and who in this division is a better "spoiler" than Monty?

The only team Monty spoils is ours.

I guess you've not been to many matches since Easter SBSP. Monty has not only been the most improved player for us - he's usually been our best player - and on more than one occasion been the only player in red and white worthy of the shirt.

To say that Monty ruins us was never true - and has never been less true than over the last few months. Why do you think Sky continually rave about the lad - and we on this forum regularly vote him Man of the Match?

I've always been one of monty critics, and slaughter him at every chance i get.

But my god that lad wheres his heart on his sleeve. A lot of people think we don't concede a lot because of our back 4, but monty gives them cover 24/7, he's an intergal part as to way we have such low tally of goals conceded

he might not be the best midfeilder in the championship, and hell there's league 1 and 2 midfielders better than him. But he does his job better than some premiership players and that's backing the defence up, and cleaning up where needed. And we will never have to worry about that area of the feild as long as monty is there.

The thing is he got knowone else in the centre with him! And that's why it looks so empty all the time and people are quick to heap the blame on monty, when it's that shit irish player who i've forgot his name.

No im not insane.....pretty sure I go on to say how in CERTAIN games Monty can be a match winner in his own right. Which he can, I except hes a good spoiler. He's 100% all of the time, without question. One of the only players with any passion for the club and at times hes our best player.

But its not always just about that......theres more to the game than that.

Although I've tried to erase the majority of wembley from my memory.....Im pretty sure I remember watching Monty try to pass it to halford from 8 yards....only to watch him play the pass 4 yards behind him and it triccle out for a throw.

I accept in certain games hes crucial for us, but not in them all. Hes more suited to away games than home games. The 4-5-1 formation suits him quite well. Shame it doesn't particularly suit United.

I agree with this GB, but I don't think we should be looking at selling him. I've maintained for a long time that he has his place and it's very valuable. When his job is shackling the likes of Ronaldo - you can't argue he's the best we've had in years. Whether or not that is needed week-in-week-out in the Championship is another matter. However, his game has developed this season and he's more useful than a spoiler to us now.
