Martinez would be ideal for the fans, the football he introduces is something special, the job he did at swansea was immense and i for one thoroughly enjoyed watching them play

To be honest, on quite a few occaisions I saw them, they bored me.

It's all well and good tapping it around the defence all day (ala Donny)... but you have to be able to do something in the final third too.

Without a doubt, they could do it, but not consistantly enough. Hence the fact they didn't even make the playoffs.

But with better players at the Lane he could do a better job than he did at Swansea.

I saw them a few times and wished we played football like them, it's definitely more pleasing on the eye, but it's not really the United way is it?

blackwell's legacy

No we are not due a promotion til 2019. :)

2019!!!!... Now there speaks a true Blade, An Eternal Optimist!. blackwell's a 1 plan, 1 dimension, found out, punching above his weight, chancer, who couldn't inspire his team to even turn up in the 3 BIG games of his tenure. His legacy so far is :- 95 years of history in derbies & a Proud 42 year unbeaten home record (the last 2 things we Blades could throw back at wendyites when they're crowing about their 'recent!!' cup win, cup finals, europe, etc... ) GONE FOREVER. It's often said a team takes after the manager!, so at least we now know why they were Devoid of ideas, Gut-less & spine-less at wembley. 2091 will be nearer the Mark with him in charge.

To be honest I couldn't care how well we played football as long as we got the results, which Blackwell pretty much gave us, so I'm glad he's staying on this season. It also means he'll be able to make SUFC more of his team, because tbh most of his team was/is a warnock/robson type team.

I think we'll get in the play-offs again and hopefully there'll be no despair and disappointment like always

UTB

This is it fella,

I am not trying to put you down as not a Blade, but you haven't been to the games this season, when morale was so low the fans were turning on each other. The football was awful, and for what is meant to be an 'entertainment' sport..... as Daz would say 'I am not entertained'.

If he does manage to 'build' his own squad, who is to say it won't start to go the same way as Leeds did? I know the comparison isn't a direct one, but it is very plausible.

blackwell went from 25/1 from beceome qpr manager the other day

yesterday he was 6/4

skybet have now took the betting off, i smell something fishy

I don't care how we play either, if it gets results.

What I look at this season, is before and around Christmas. We were playing terrible football, there wasn't much to make me get out of my seat and we weren't really getting results. If we start doing that again next season I won't be happy.

After February we started playing better football and picked up some excellent results, and it was exciting. Like the Preston games in the play-offs, it was brilliant to watch. If we do that again I'll be pleased.

It all depends on the approach, because our back 6 (Kenny, Walker/Naughton, Kilgallon, Morgan, Naysmith, Montgomery) is good enough to stop pretty much anyone in the division in my opinion, so I think we should go at teams a bit more, knowing we're strong at the back instead of being cautious and looking to sneak a 1-0. Look at Wolves away this year, we went there and attacked and they couldn't really deal with us.

I haven't managed to get to many games this season cos i work shifts so can't always get to the lane, but i agree that we've definately played better since Beattie (the good one) left.
It seemed to me that no matter how well or badly Beatts was playing he was first name on the team sheet, and no matter where he was on the pitch the ball went to him. We played as a one man team and that made it easy for the opposition. No one player is bigger than the team and appart from not getting the results in the high profile matches, we've done really well imo.
Admittedly the loan signings made have been woeful apart from Halford ( who i'd really love us to sign )
I think we need a decent central midfielder preferably who can win a ball in the air cos at the minute it looks like a bunch of munchkins in central midfield. We need a bit of defensive cover at centre back. And in the rare as rocking horse shit category a striker who can get 15-20 goals for us and we're rocking !
I am glad Blackie's staying too cos we need stability, and i think if he can do what he's done the last season and a half then we should get behind him and the lads, and who knows where we can go next season.
One final point, i think his post match comments on Monday were the comments of a deeply hurt bloke and i'd rather he wore his heart on his sleeve that didn't give a toss (Robson), and also think he might have been trying to get leverage on McCabe for assurances the squad won't be ripped up and the "crown jewels" sold.
That is all thank you Sheffield and goodnight

P.S. I feel much better for getting that off my chest

me thinks air on the side of caution for the next gaffer,ON THE CHEAP ! we,ve already heard the dreaded words of prudence which means loanees from lower leagues,i dont think we,ll be getting ronaldo who has itchy feet
