Also, as someone stated earlier, we had been playing better without our james, that said know-one could predict the outcome if we had him or not. One thing i am proud of is that every wednesday fan said we would crumble and fall without james, how wrong they were.

Before March, we were awful. Played terrible football and struggled through to get average results.

After March, like last season, we played better football and got better results, and because this league is so poor, we charged up the league. That's what's kept the fans happy, because the fans were turning.

All year, we've had no plan B and don't know how to react when we go 1-0 down and we start hoofing it forward hoping for the best.

Yesterday, we started well. They scored and we went to pot, and just started lumping it forward.

The 2 KEY games this season, we haven't delivered. Palace away and yesterday. We can do it when it's important, but we can't do it when everything depends on it, and that's what is so frustrating.

I don't know what I want to happen, but it's going to be an interesting summer.

Yeah but weve got some funds from West Ham and it would be interesting to see how the board is going to make use of it. I think Speed could be a good assistant but Im not convinced that he can fill in the managers shoes though, too inexperienced for me.

I dunno about that look what Keane did at Sunderland.

Blackwell came in when we were facing a real threat of relegation and took us to the edge of the play-offs - He then takes us to a play-off final, when (anyone who knows owt about owt - and has the courage to say so) the realistic aim of the season in August was simply to make the play offs - not to be in with a shout of promotion on the last weekend. In between time he's had to sell BT to balance the pay-roll - and successfully brought academy players through when needed too etc etc. Not a bad all round performance really.

And as McCabe recently extended his contract to 4 years only a few months ago - it looks unlikely he'll be made to jump no matter what the knee-jerk brigade say.

Kevin Blackwell is not Bryan Robson - he deserves better than this and he deserves our support.

To be honest I was shocked to get back and hear his interview, he really did sound broken, he must have a love for Sheffield United and like Warnock wanted us to do well. Maybe he honestly believes that it would be better for the club to stand down and lets someone with fresh ideas have a go. And if he thinks that way then fair play to him.

Or maybe he can't hack the pressure. Wouldn't be the first manager to crumble.

Blackwell should go its not OUR support he needs !, and appart from that he just aint a good enough manager.

Just my humble opinion of course.

We were expected to finish top 6 and we did. To finish 3rd was an over achievement.

When i was walking out of Wembley yesterday all the "fickle" blades were slagging Blackwell off something rotten, i heard some really bad comments about him. I really can't understand it! 3rd in the league, play off final but yet "he's the worst manager ever to manage the blades." "Clueless t**t" "F**K off back to leeds you idiot" What did he have to do to win these people over? Win the FA Cup? What comments would the exact same people have been saying if we'd WON 1-nil? "Brilliant" "Legend" "Best manager we've had"

Either these people should SHUT UP or Pleeeease, stop coming to the games"

At the end of the day, He wasn't on the pitch for these BIG games that they lost, Pigs, Doncaster, Burnley (3 times) it was the 11 players. If the manager tells you to do something and it doesn't work surely the players are clever enough to realise that Mr Carlisle won every thing at Turf Moor and won every thing yesterday, so why keep booting it to him? OBVIOUSLY NOT!

Why was 3rd an over achievement? After all the hype from blackwell and McCabe, we should have been gunning for 1st and 2nd not an "Over Achievement" of 3rd.

Am i fickle then for calling blackwell a tit and tactically clueless(which he is) yet sat and watched some poor shite football from us all season? So how's about i have my oppinion of not liking him and carry going home and away with the blades.

He wasn't on the pitch, true, but he's the man that deals with it and sorts it tactically. It's the players fault for doing what blackwell said and not going against him to play it on the floor? Blackwells fault not the players.

I think Blackwell should go.

The thought never entered my head until I heard that he was thinking of resigning, but I don't really see how he can continue after his comments. I mean, if he honestly doesn't feel he can take the team forward then he would be doing everyone a favour to leave now. If, however, he decides to stay then I will need some convincing that he can pick the players up and push on next season.

I like Blackwell (though he is not without his faults), but without the passion and commitment, I don't really see what he has to offer.

Would you have called him a Tit & Clueless if we'd won 4-0 and got premiership football? No! You would have come out of Wembley the same way you went in. Excited and Elated!

Spot on.

No matter what he's done this year, if he doubts himself then that's half the battle lost.

Yeah, I'd not have considered calling for his head one little bit - but like other posters have said, how can he make those comments and still carry on? I wondered if it might have been "in the heat of the moment" but he said it in at least two interviews. :(

Yes i would have. But we were never going to win 4-0 playing like that.
I have maintained that he is a tit and clueless since the beginning of the season.

Even if we had won and gone up i am sure he would have been shown the door by January because one dimensional long ball tactics won’t work against prem opposition

Before we all jump on the "Blackwell out" parade. Think of a suitable replacement.

All very good stuff, but the rumour is that he'll do a Coppell and walk. I'd like to think that he has a bit of bottle about him, especially as King Kev I put his trust in him. Personally thinking, I think he was devastated by the result (and I hope the overall performance), and may well have been shooting from the hip.

I see no reason as to why he should go, unless it's best for him. Were he to go, it would be a resignation, and not 'mutual consent' or an outright sacking.

as people that sit around me know Kevin Blackwell isn't my favourite person.but he has lets be honest done an amazing job to get a 3rd place finish and a play-off final from what we he had to work with.(an average overpaid squad) however i do beleive his interview, however knee jerk it was are the words of a man on his way!

on a side note is the managers role at chengdu still available? could be an interesting role for blackie!

so mr blackwell i still don't like you but i would like to thank you for getting us to the brink of the promised land. a feat i think few others could have achieved with our current squad
all the best for the future at bramall lane or beyond!

i'd rather see Gary Speed take it on.

Will be eager to make an impact, given his successful playing career, and will have a host of contacts willing to help him out re: players.

I would go for Martinez if Blackwell left.

I do believe that his post match interview has done damage to the already broken morale of the squad. if you cant look to your manager for inspiration & leadership when the chips are down who can you???

Someone said earlier Speed & McCall. I think McCall did a decent job at Bradford, the fans love him & hasn't he resigned?

I agree with the rest that with Blackwell's post match "in the heat of the moment" interview, no matter what he says now, a certain amount of damage has been done.

In hindsight, he has done quite well and I do feel that he deserves better. However, I cant quite compute the wisdom of Mr McCabe. The Club had to slash the wage bills hence sold Beattie - which no doubt sent a wrong signal but I honestly cannot see the wisdom in the investments made abroad, specifically Chengdu! Is China a BIG market with HUGE potential - absolutely yes, but is it at a higher priority than securing and establishing premiership status - I really dont know. Appears to be like a distraction and a waste of valuable funds when the club should be taking it step by step.

Our beloved club's business model is better than most premiership clubs and without doubt geared towards success but the aim should first be to get back in and focus on transforming SUFC into an established premier league club and only then look at penetrating new markets.

- just my opinion.
