Absolutely brilliant interview with all four making excellent contributions.

Absolutely fucking heartbreaking as well.

I'll watch later, not my thing tbh.
Main thing I liked, skipping through was Rhian. He was saying it makes no odds in the dressing room and on the pitch. They are team mates on and off the pitch. They all back each other regardless of colour or nationality.
In my mind that mentality is all that's needed from everybody in everyday life. If that's what everybody does, the whole thing is finished.

Its a privilege to have these people as Blades.
Courtney making a brilliant point about the wider issue of our education system glossing over the history of racists in the country.
Wes's comment about no one is born racist, its a learnt behaviour, must surely be factored into the controlling measures required to stop it at society level.
PM Brewster has a good ring to it - if he scores the goals and gets the interest rates down!
With the goalies proximity to the crowd enabling them to constantly hear all the abusive comments, the clubs putting microphones and cameras on the goals would surely gather more evidence to put a stop to it.

Agree found it interesting about their experiences being mixed race (a lighter shade of brown).
Mixed race people are always put into the "black" ethnicity category but it's a seperate/ special group.
At times they don't feel white but also don't feel black, even though society classifies them as black.

Also the shade of brown was raised as an issue.
I have family in Jamaica and over there light brown (red skin) is more highly thought of and considered more attractive and more affluent than dark brown.
So there are racial stereotypes and preferences even in Jamaica.

In society you have several black people who have become world famous and successful.
People like Barack Obama, Tiger Woods, Lewis Hamilton, Meghan Markle....however they are all lighter shades of brown.

Does make me wonder if shade of brown is still significant in England.
So a father would now be happy with their daughter having a black boyfriend (which is progress) as long as he's not too black.

Agree....they all spoke fantastically well.
Courtney always impresses me. I've heard her speak as a football pundit on the radio and TV and she's really knowledgable and an excellent communicator.
She has a realistic chance of carving out a career in the media when she finishes playing.

Regards abuse to goalies coming from behind the goal I reckon that every single goalie has heard personal abuse several times each season.
The subject matter was "racist abuse" but my view is this could be a bit of a red herring.

In order to tackle racist abuse, you need to tackle the whole subject of abuse and bullying and at the same time encouraging resect.
Behavioural psychologists should be able to say what motivates abuse, racist abuse, bullying and where it comes from and why?
You can't just say "stop abusing", you need to take it right back to the beginning regards motivation in order to tackle the issue going forward.
My concern is that abuse and bullying are just normal traits for some people regards the darker side of human behaviour.

Another point relates to Troy Townshend. He must have so much info talking to players regards experiences and ideas how to tackle racism and abuse in general.
You would hope that Troy Townshend (with help from a team of behavioural psychologists) could come up with some suggestions and answers to the problem.
Sometimes I think it's just people playing lip service and no one is actually serious about doing anything tangible.

Having listened to it it sounds like we’ve had a black player go on loan and experience racism from a teammate at the club they were loaned to.

Lots of "black" people are mixed race. Even icons like Obama, Bob Marley and Mary Seacole.

Agree the famous black people almost all tend to be mixed race...that was my point that shade of brown seems to be an issue.
If Obama was a really dark brown colour would he have ever been president? doubt it.

Also another point was if someone is 50/50 mixed then they are as much white as black and might associate themselves and feel more white than black.
However this person is classified by mainstream society as being black.

Not sure if anyone has come across this. Both ours and Birmingham’s players are warming up with this T-shirt.

This is a great statement, I abhor virtue signalling, when it’s forced. But this message brings a timely reminder that we’re both very similar clubs culturally and locally. Both us and Brum’s most iconic players have tended to be black players and we both have produced local lads from a BM background who have and or will become world class players we can be all proud of. Us with Kyle and Birmingham with Jude.

It’s a reminder that black history in football is intertwined with both our histories, a lot of our successes have been in part due to the contribution of these players and this will be the case in the future.

I think it’s a great celebration of the memories attached, all those players selected for both us Birmingham will produce great memories for both sets of fans as they contributed to our successes.

Yet, as with the above successes. Some are still ignorant and I hope this plays as a reminder that we’re very much an inclusive club.

I've often thought Deane and Agana changed the fan culture within our club regards black players.

Their ability, style and personality ensured Deane and Agana become a major part (the best attacking duo for years) of the SUFC family.
They became so loved and hero worshipped by our fans that many wouldn't dare be openly racist from that point.

I know where you're coming from but it absolutely bamboozled me as a teenager on the Kop.

Certain Blades racially abusing the opposition players, then 2 minutes later singing, 'Oh Tony Tony.....'
