Bitter taste in my mouth

They’ve cocked up with the membership scheme, and are gradually unwinding the mess.

Overall, you’ve made a way over the top appraisal of the situation.

And that's about the long and short of it. The timing of this was awful, but it's not terminal and, as you say, it should be corrected.......soon!

I wonder, do United have the capacity for customer liaison? Couldn't they have done a survey based on the opinions of me, thee, and whoever else?

I have said it before.. don’t bring facts into a rant fight.

It’s not a fact. Fans are entitled to say we have cheaper tickets than most, but it’s inaccurate to say we have the cheapest tickets in the league. It’s not the first time I’ve seen this said this week either.

A lot of the changes have smacked of Premier League greed. Ticket prices are now too high and the membership scheme was ridiculous.
We have £100m more income this season than any in our history. Trying to eek even more out of fans, many of whom have watched the club endure six seasons in third division, was simply greed.
Struggling to sell out for the first Premier League game in over a decade says it all.

Only things that’ve fucked me off are the shirt prices going up, only having 1 chance to use a discount at the club shop, and the loyalty point stuff.
Agree on the shirts and the discount. 20% discount is great (only being able to use it once, not so great) but the shirts going up in price by so much means we're not really getting any discount at all. (Just over £40 each last season after a 10% discount, £44 each this time after a 20% discount).

Because I’ve had a season ticket for over 30 years I never pay attention to home ticket prices or how to obtain tickets as its not relevant to me.

I heard on Facebook the club have said you need 500 points to buy a ticket so having not read all what’s gone off surely this discourages new fans like my kids for example?

Yeah. Bit annoying. They’re still the same quality shirts, it’s not like they’ve started using hand finished silk is it? Same brand, same quality, what’s the difference? Oh, we went up

Like death and taxes most fans will see positives and negatives but a minority will either regularly find moans or conversely support anything the club does by having a dig at those who criticise.

The OP has a fair message if not using some OTT soundbites to emphasise it.

Again with this line.
Even given the issues and restrictions we had less than 2,000 tickets available on Thursday morning. As soon as it was opened up the vast majority were gone within the day.

There was actually excessive demand for tickets, it was just that due to the new system fans couldn’t get hold of them. It was a problem the club hit and then successfully resolved.
The club could also have sold many more season tickets if allowed.

The facts do not support the statement that we struggled to sell out due to cost in anyone’s logic, unless you’re pushing your own agenda.

No, it's not as simple as that. It's my club, and the club of my mates from school. We're all in our 50's now, and have supported the team over decades through thick and thin. Like many of my mates, I was at Hillsborough on Boxing Day, Darlington, Leicester, Wembley v the Pigs, Play Off finals, relegation games, cup semis.

You are implying that it's a simple decision, like shopping at Tesco if you don't like Waitrose. But it isn't. It's about much, much more than that. It's about the soul and tradition of S2 and the close connection with that fans that I always though set SUFC apart from the corporate-led clubs. As a loyal fan I should be allowed to criticise without being told that I shouldn't go any more.

It's not about prices. It's about the way that many very important decisions are now seemingly being made in a vacuum without any input from fans. It's about the way the club speaks to us. How we are fobbed offf, how we are treated.

All this because you haven’t got contactless? 😲

You don’t need any points for tomorrow’s game now.

Take this opportunity to take your kids.

My 'line' is there has been needless greed from the club over ticket prices and the membership scheme given the club's income.
We didn't need to squeeze even more money out of supporters, it was just unnecessary and counter-productive.

3 different materials on this season's shirt.

It went up last season when we got climaknit it whatever it's called, the ribbed stuff on the front.

Now we have more of it, and another variety on the white stripes.

Definitely a higher quality product in my opinion but they're still too expensive, but then again, if they were £40 they'd be too expensive so it doesn't matter really.

Im a big critic of our club for a number of reasons based on over 50 years service.
I draw the line here.
I'm beyond proud of what we've done on and off the field since getting promoted.
If mistakes have been made cut a bit of slack.
We are way ahead of where we expected to be.
Can't wait for some saddo to complain we didn't buy another player costing more than McBurrnie.
Get there tomorrow and drive our lads home.
That is all.

I love the Blades with all my heart and last season was one of the best in living memory. I’ve seen two other promotions to the top flight, and last season’s could have been the most exciting I have witnessed. I have huge respect for CW and the players who achieved promotion against the odds, and this is not a gripe at them. Most of the club’s employees are good people too. But I think there’s something rotten creeping in, something that’s driving a big wedge between the club and the fans.

In general, great wealth changes people for the worst. The more money you have, the more you want to retain it and acquire more. This applies to organizations too. When they can afford it, people and companies hire professionals, lawyers and PR people, not to engage with customers, but to brush them aside and avoid criticism.

OK, some things are now dictated by the PL. But in general, United’s attitude to the fans this season has been appalling. It has been that of rich company seeking to protect its assets and increase its wealth above anything else. The season ticket early bird fiasco, moving loyal season ticket holders without speaking to them first, the blatant rip off that is the membership scheme, the Palace ticketing fiasco, making Palace a Cat A game and charging our fans on the kop more than the away fans are just a few examples. Even worse is the terse responses to emails and the corporate-speak in the official communication. It stinks.

I can’t believe McCabe is responsible for this. His regime has been characterized by fair prices and good communication with the fans. I can only imagine that his power is now limited and someone else now has the final say when it comes to pricing, PR and communication.

The facts can’t be avoided. The club is really fucking up its relationship with the fans big time. Loyalty and tradition are taking a back seat to the practice of screwing as much money as possible out of the fans.

We’re currently acting worse than Wednesday under Chansiri, and it’s leaving a bitter taste in my mouth
Worse than Wednesday? Having a fucking giraffe pal. Our club has never been more connected with the fans than it is now.
Yes the ticketing policy could be better, but that apart its fine. And yes its a business, dont go if you dont like what comes with success.

Jesus, not another one. Next you lot will be moaning about the birds in the trees singing out of tune.
I ferking hate it when they do that, i get mi kidney punch shotgun out and knock em of their perches in the trees....can't stand out of tune birds.....and as for ferking bouncing fowls in trees they get both ferking barrels......

True, but you still have to register. Not sure if its a PL rule or not, but it just about rules out any pay on the day fans.

I was very critical of the club for how we were orignally selling tickets for the Palace game. Fair do's to them they changed the policy in the end and we now look to have got out of that mess. The thing is, we will have a worse problem against Leicester. They have sold out, so using the Palace logic we won't be able to put our tickets on general sale with no points required. Simple solution ..... give all those who have attended the Palace match 500 points unless they already have them. Sorted, easy peasy. Come along to the next game guys, you'll love it!

We are pissing in the big boys toilet now boys, let's be pragmatic and think outside the box.

Maybe it's to do with the works? Tests on the electrics or something? Connections down while they're fiddling.

Maybe everyone has the shits? Haha

Ah I get it, perhaps that's the bitter taste in the mouth.

There is an old saying “Be careful what you wish for”. We wished for a return to the PL and our wish was granted. Now we get everything that comes with it including higher prices and a huge clamour to see the product. If some of the things we are now experiencing get on your wick just think back to the days of haslam and peters, then make your wish again
