Kind if disagree.....I like to think I’m balanced and don’t have any favourites (apart from maybe Duffy ha ha). I think some of the criticism Sharp receivers is fair, he’d probably admit it himself.
I often think Sharp has similarities to my hero Keith Edwards, he’s not quick, not physical, no height, not a target man, very average link up play....however Sharp is our best finisher, a predator but relies on others to set him up. So when he’s not scoring he doesn’t do anywhere near as much as the others, it’s like we’re a man short. Although Sharp (like Edwards) is one of them players who can be playing poorly, hardly touch the ball then boom....it’s in the net and another goal. That’s the type of player he is.
Back in the early 80’s the number of times I heard Blades around me saying “Edwards is having a poor game, he needs subbing”, then 5 minutes later he’d score from his first shot on goal.
Clarke has height, more physicality, better target man, far better link up play and sets others up.
So even when Clarke doesn’t score he can still play well and be effective and a big threat.
The problem with Clarke is he’ll score the difficult chances but tends to miss the easy chances.
Full respect to both though because they both work so hard and Billy shows leadership qualities, desperate for his team to win.
I can see logic in either or both starting.
