Billy should be dropped

With arguably our 4 best midfielders missing, today was always going to be a struggle realistically.

The challenge now is to get the wheels back on before the wobble becomes a slide.

Bravo ! An extended metaphor of which Motson, or Brian Moore himself, would've been proud :)

Fuck all service today and he might as well have not been on the pitch but with Brooks and Duffy out he's always going to play.

Needs to keep the ball better though.

Radio sheffield said Leon had the captaincy.
Someone's wrong here somewhere.
Something is wrong at your end. Look at the photo gallery of yesterday's match in the official site and you will see Billy wearing the captain's armband

Billy Sharp scores goals when chances are created for him. If the other players are not creating chances - Billy does not score goals. Yesterday, we had four players who create chances out of the team.

Billy is not the problem - it's the lack of creativity.

He was great last season, but this season he is being out-strengthed, out paced and just generally out played
Clearly you have an amazing knowledge of this game we call football.....NOT

Billy has a tattoo on his back that says TOP LEAGUE ONE STRIKER, sadly he will never have one that says TOP CHAMPIONSHIP STRIKER.:(

Billy's Billy. Give it a few weeks & he'll go off on a 7 or 8-game scoring streak. In the meantime, he'll look shite (& maybe he ought to be rested for a while during that meantime).

But is Billy undroppable under Wilder (apart from being "rested" for the odd midweek game) anyway?

I mean, he's been the trusted lieutenant since Day One of the Wilder reign. He's the talisman & is absolutely key to the team ethos and spirit. It's no easy thing for CW to relegate him to the bench, even for a short while.

In saying all that, Morgs got dropped by the total nob Robson when Gary Cahill was brought in on loan. And he carried on his club captain duties while it happened in exemplary fashion. Also, his form when he came back into the starting eleven was top drawer.

But it's different now. It was hardly a happy camp then. It is now. Do you risk disrupting it?

I have the utmost respect for Wilder however not putting Wright
back in the team yet again is genuinely bonkers

In terms of Wilder's philosophy, it's based on form - Billy is out of form so why is he still playing?
Not having a go at you mate loads of people saying it, but we lost 1-0 and hardly created anything. Defence did fine why is there such a focus on bringing Wright back in? He hasn’t been outstanding this season and wouldn’t have created chances for us to score, which is what we needed?

Sharp relies on good service to be able to perform. We've seen that under previous managers. Clarke, to a lesser extent, is the same.

When the final balls are as poor as they've generally been over the last few weeks, they've had little to feed on (unless there are defensive errors).

Chris was after another striker. One who would give us different options. It didn't happen and our other strikers have been injured or not really up to this level.

Unless we go to one upfront, which isn't really an option at the moment, then those two will likely start.
All strikers rely on good service dont they??

When we played Brooks and Leon up front when Billy was injured we looked great I am surprised that Chris hasn't given them both another go together

Has been used much more sparingly this year.

Maybe that tells its own story ?

Another story is the fact that there are just 6 players in the whole division who have a better goals per minute ratio, even given the recent dry spell.

And yet the resident experts would have him dropped instantly !

I’m not making out his form has been great. It hasn’t. Sharp, perhaps more than any other has suffered the most from the loss of Coutts.

But, and I hate to agree with the fella, TD has this spot on.

Just when you think you’ve heard it all you get people trying to advocate playing Hanson instead of Sharp.

Laughable!
Hanson with sharp was always good as is Brooks and Clarke, they are our best 2 partnerships in my opinion. The former of Leon makes him the obvious starter and I would try and play both these partnerships depending how a game evolves

We played the long ball yesterday!
Not disagreeing with that but no matter what way we play Hanson isn’t in the same league as Sharp.

That performance yesterday reminded me of how we played in the first four games of last season and look how many points that produced, it was dire and we don’t want to get in that rut and play that way again.

Hanson with Sharp was in league one though. I’ll give him a chance as ever but I’m not convinced he’s good enough for this league.

CCV looked completely out of place. didnt have a good game yesterday. cant remember him winning anything before being subbed

for all those saying that Sharp 'needs better service'

can't remember a time where he received the ball and didn't lose it. he couldn't keep hold of the ball either.

fuck me this is an argument i/some of us can never win because of shitty excuses. he's not good enough - end of
