50+ million we’ve spent on strikers.

Not one of them is any better than Sharp in the box.

Not saying he’s the answer but by Christ there should be no way he misses out on another squad for the rest of the season. If we bring him on with half an hour to go, we win tonight. It really is that simple.

Get him back in the team, he'd have had at least 2 tonight. Been saying use him now for 5 games, what's the matter with Wilder afraid he'll be a hero and take some of the limelight?

Baffling that someone whose goals career record totals 245 isn't even in the match day squad. Does anyone doubt he wouldn't have buried at least two of those chances tonight? We were playing a championship defence, the team with the worst defensive record in the EPL, surely he was an option off the bench tonight. Hope he isn't too pissed off because we'll need him in the Championship next season.

Said exactly the same, he's deffo not the answer but would have buried most of those chances tonight

Mate he’s 32/33/34 (not sure but I’m really not in the mood to look it up) he’s not going to create his own chances in this division no chance. But he knows exactly where to be. He’s an instinctive striker he anticipates everything, he causes defences problems in ways that our other strikers don’t.

He’s a natural finisher. That tonight is a perfect advert for him at least being on the bench every week. If I was him Id be driving to the Lane and waiting for Wilder to ask him why he’s not playing. Fuck waiting until Monday before going to see him.

He has in the past referred to Sharp as ‘Mr Sheffield United’ but if I was Wilder I’d definitely want someone else to take the limelight.
Sharp is the only player in our team with composure in front of goal who‘s capable of a tap into the corner, everyone else looses their head with a sight of goal try’s to blast it.

let's not pretend people on here weren't saying he was "not good enough" when he missed sitters on the last day against Southampton. Or after his performance the first game of this season against Wolves.
Some people were, I've watched the highlights of both those games and I haven't seen a sitter at Southampton and his performance v Wolves was the best by any of our strikers this season.

I love Billy, but let's not pretend people on here weren't saying he was "not good enough" when he missed sitters on the last day against Southampton. Or after his performance the first game of this season against Wolves.

I’m not pretending that at all. There is a time and a place for Sharp. In a game where we’re lacking creativity, it used to piss me off when we’d bring him on and hope for the best because he’s not the type of player that’s going to get you a goal out of nothing.

Games like tonight are Billy Sharp’s bread and butter. When our attack is fluid and the ball is in and around the box, he knows exactly where he needs to be, he’s instinctive and by far the best finisher at the club.

if hes not injured he should at least have been on the bench he would definetly have put at least one of those chances away we wouldnt have scored tonight even if west brom hadnt been on the pitch depressing

I doubt it one maybe

He would have scored a hatrick tonight

Wilder says Billy knows what his role is.

Tell us then Chris because if it’s doing his soccer school we will understand. It’s a joke Lundstram is on bench and Billy isn’t.
I think this joke deserves its place on a CHRIStmas Cracker it’s so bad. Oh I know I will put our half fit French striker on the bench instead yeah that will be a good idea for in the second half when we will no doubt need a goal or two.

I actually think Lundstram did okay tonight but if there’s anyone that absolutely wants to be here and lives and breathes the club then it’s Sharp.

Billy Sharp is 34 and not the future of this club. He's not good enough at this level. He's on a downhill slope. We don't dominate most games so he's not a great amount of use in our team.

Never said he was the future. I agree he isn’t. Says a lot when he’s still the best finisher at the club though does it not?

Based on tonight, our other strikers aren’t much cop at this level either. The games we do dominate, like that second half, he comes into his own.

Your opinion is noted.

Please consider that as well as being right, consider the possibility of the opposite !

Crying out for him tonight. Any fool could see that 😉. Me included 😀.

The thing is, it's easy to look at some of those low crosses tonight and think he might have got on the end of one of them. The problem is, that's his whole game now. Whilst you can rightly criticise the other strikers for their finishing, their all round games are better.

You’ve missed the point of the thread though. No one is saying Sharp is the saviour but if he plays tonight I back him to score some of those chances over any other player in the squad.

I’ve already pointed out that he’s not much use when we’re not creating anything but then that’s not what we want from him. When we are creating chances, like tonight, I’d back him over any of the 3 strikers we had on at the end to score. He’s our best finisher.

They are not. Categorically not.

McBurnie is dreadful. I’ll say that again. Dreadful.

We’ve done Bill vs McB striker top trumps before. It’s not even close.

Wilder (and you and an ever decreasing number of apologists) refuse to accept what is now blatantly obvious.

And that’s why we are rock fucking bottom.

Back on topic.

Billy. Go out in Jan.

Score some more goals wherever that might be.

We have no need for a natural goal scorer who can work the channels, create space in behind, link, retain possession and generally work well in an efficient, progressive team 😂.
