According to my extensive spreadsheet, BS has moved onto 75 league goals for us. It'd be nice for him to reach 100. :)
And interestingly 77 for Donny and 80 for Scunny , it'll feel right and fitting when the club he's scored most league goals for us is dem Blades.

Sharp has scored more league goals for us than any other club he's played for.

75 Blades
62 Doncaster
53 Scunthorpe

When you have a midfield that can create chances, it shouldn't be a surprise if people like Sharp start scoring.

Billy Sharp is a fox in the box and we haven't as a team been at it since Coutts got injured - hence all of the comments about him getting dropped/sold/ pensioned off.

With this midfield, he'll get 20 goals again. He like all the other "key" players will need managing, so don't start complaining when he gets a few rests every now and again.

Take the 3 international breaks in Sept/Oct/Nov - this is the ideal time for a good weeks rest, then pick it up again in the 2nd week. We should be able to get the squad, but primarily our A team up to December with very few changes.

Forgive my ignorance.

Why would he NEED a rest ?

Why SHOULD he be given a rest ?

Beyond the natural pauses, such as this weeks international break, I can see no reason whatsoever for this.

Sorry, but it smacks of the old “his legs have gone” bollox which has been shown up for what it actually is. Bollox !!!

Oh dear - considering my post was not criticising Billy one iota, it's good to see his No 1 fan attempting for the one millionth time to protect the very being that Billy is.

Get a life fella - it's ALL about he team - not just one player.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Your non response evidently backs up the conviction you must certainly have !!

Which roughly translates as “spout bollox, get picked up on it”. So be ready !!

Oh ar , was looking at appearances not goals , I blame the fox in our garden screaming it's shit at 3am ...... stand corrected.

I think Billy qualifies as a Blades legend already. Everyone with an axe to grind is quick enough to point out his weak points, & to be fair he does have some, but he has shown his intelligence by working on those parts of his game as he gets older & I agree he is a more complete centre forward now than a few years ago. His fitness levels look right up there, & allied to his sheer passion for the Blades I wouldn't be surprised if he topped the list of leading scorers again by the seasons end if he stays injury free. Our supply lines are good enough to supply him with all the chances he needs to do what he does better than most at this level.

Aye but if you flog him to death his legs will go, he's not fucking Arnie in Terminator. Manage him like Kevin Philips and he's good for another 5 years.

Fully agree with all the praise heaped on him above but I'm surprised nobody mentioned the quality of his goal yesterday.

Actually, someone did. See #42 on the ‘was that the best first half?’ thread.

Stranger Things.

Clearly , I was referring to this thread but thanks , anyway , for pointing me towards your words of wisdom which I missed first time around .

On a minor point , to the description 'aplomb' ( nice word that ) I would have added instinctiveness and awareness to do it full justice .

We need more than one thread to shower praise on Billy. I would like one devoted to why he should never have been dropped, where we pretend he wasn't off the pace, lethargic and, in truth, completely anonymous.

#mustplayeveryweekjustlikebrooks.

On past form you probably won't championing it.

I don’t agree that Sharp had a greater impact. I think his days are numbered. I doubt he’ll score ten more goals in a Blades shirt. When he’s not scoring, he’s a passenger.

That was 25/7/18 post #567. This lead to your bet with myself and LoughboroBlade

Have you had a bang on the head?

You do seem uncertain on what your view is on Bladey-Bill.

Most everybody rates him, if his boyhood team had been say bristol City and he had played for them most of his career and we had brought him in in the last couple of weeks we would all be going ,how good is that, to have signed a striker like Billy Sharp, well done wllder and knill.

Sure we can find him a job when he retires , maybe he can take over from TC and show posh people round our club .

Friend of a friend info but heard Billy was starting a course/degree part time in sports science or something. Probably has coaching in mind.

I'd love him to stay on as a coach. So much experience and skill, and he's captained us through some great moments.

Also he's a fucking legend. Scan him now so that we can get a statue of him that looks like him outside the New New Tony Currie Posh Coffee South Stand.

His limitations are only apparent when the team isn't quite at it.

In League one, when he scored 30 goals, I highlighted that he was missing a lot of chances which were easier than some he scored.

I don't see him missing those chances now, his stats are showing this.

The last two preseasons he's worked his nuts off to come back better and leaner.

He's in as good shape now as he was when he was 20.

He’s in even better shape than when he was 20!

Same could be said for Leon too.
