Billy Sharp

The more we lose; the more we go adrift; the more decent players are going to want to come here; the less likely McCabe will sanction it; the more we lose etc......same story as last 10 years. It will end when we find our true level which is south from here.

I agree with that.

But Sharp is not the issue here. There are massive problems in midfield and defence that need dealing with first.

We've got problems all over the pitch. Although definitely agree we're blessed with goalscorers up top. We do lack pace there though.

But certainly agree that Billy isn't any sort of issue as such, just that he's not playing very well right now (as happened at times last season). If CW dropped him temporarily, either to play Leon Clarke up front in a 4-2-3-1 or to give Marc McNulty a try, I certainly wouldn't be complaining.

Sharp's not blameless but we can't be jumping to negative conclusions about him after five games when he's been part of a team that's not functioning in any way whatsoever.

You are aware of how you win games and get points are you?

Maybe we could manage to get Sharp to score 20 and Clarke 15 by playing them up front together and making them the focal point of all our attacks. But if we don't find rhythm to our attacking play, those 35 goals won't make us a top team.

I agree last season he was very inconsistent and missed a fair few chances, but I always felt that if needed he could get a goal, not to sure this season.

Also apparently he hates Clarke, quite obvious to see

That might be the case but he should be professional enough to put any differences behind him we they are on the pitch. Especially when he is captain.
After all no play is bigger than the club and that includes Billy Sharp.

Did we set up like this today ?View attachment 19287

If so, I think we can all read between the lines as to why Sharp (allegedly) is pissed off.

When I saw that team I had to laugh I thought it was your suggestion! I thought what a stupid team/formation to put forward, scrawled down and then read it was our team/formation for today, I cannot believe that to be true.

Or maybe McCabe's accountant came up with a cunning plan?
When prince came in there were words to the effect the accountants were looking at how to address the fair play rules creatively. I thought he meant to spend on players like Bournemouth and Brentford. Derrrrrrrr me

Clear to me that Sharp and Clarke doesn't work.

Manager has to accept it and act. Set teams up for one or the other, and rotate the strikers. Makes us less predictable, more fluid and open to competition.

Sharp missed more than he scored last season, and some of them sitters too. He's not the amazing finisher we like to believe. So he needs another foil, and at the moment I'm struggling to see one.
He may be a big part of the problem.

A close friend knows David Holdsworth and hes Billys personal trainer and supposidly hes said that him and Clarke cant stand eachother. Makes sense with how much talking on the pitch goes on between them

Clarke doesn't look like scoring to there is only one option for me

The problem is Wilder seems to be the only one who can't see that Clarke and Sharp will not work. He has made one captain and the other is his signing, but he's got to swallow his pride and admit it isn't working and drop one of them.

If Sharp was taking all the chances he missed last season, he'd have scored 40 goals. Players like that don't play in League One, by League One standards Sharp is an amazing finisher.

Didn't go today and listened to the radio, got a little frustrated at Johnny Buchan raise his voice in anticipation only for it to quickly die down with the words "Clarke pushed off the ball there".

#Sammon with a sun tan.

Not saying his current form is down to this, but Sharp is no captain.
Wilder's 1st mistake was making him captain.
Being made captain seems to have dampened Billy's appetite for football and increased it for Big Macs. ;)

Joking apart, there's something not right with his head right now and that goes for most of his teammates. I don't know if they're terrified of losing or just not sure what their roles are yet, but they look and play like they've got the weight of the world on their heads and a ball and chain around their ankles.

He's fucking wank?

Yes of course he is, he was the outstanding player last year in a very poor team, in a very poor team he scored 21 times, but of course we will listen to your wisdom under the strange banner that everyone has an opinion, but yours my friend is extremely silly, has no link to the truth, and quite honestly shows you up for the frustrated youngster you obviously are.

It must just be a case of my eyes working better than yours in that case then old timer, because all I can see is a well past his best, shadow of his former self Billy Sharp. He won't get anywhere near 21 this season and you bloody well know it.

He will get the goals. Always has done.

But Elsewhere most probably.
