Not just because he is a local lad, and not just because he is a Blade, but because he has shown more heart, commitment, passion and desire to win than any other player. Because if he can find three more goals he will be on 20 and without those 20 we would be in a relegation battle.

As a reward for his efforts to date, he should be made Captain until the end of the season.

Not sure if he has ever been Captain before, but as a life long Blade, I am sure he would be made up, and so would we.

Thank you Billy Sharp for single-handedly saving us from fucking relegation. Sharp has been the best of the very few positives this season. Not sure if he wants the captain's band, but it should be his if he wants it.

Oh that sentiment stuff is creeping in again. I don't think anyone deserves a reward. He's done what I would expect of him. So he's earned his wages. No one else really deserves theirs.
Lets just get on with it and finish the season and then make sure whoever is left and whoever comes in they know what is required.

Not sentiment pal, just seeing again last night how some (most) of the players trot around the pitch, 90% of them scared to have a go and look to pass (often straight to the opposition).

The number of players who actually seem to want to win you can count on one hand.

We don't have enough leaders on the pitch, that is plain for all to see, and a Captain should always lead by example, in any industry.

If anyone can show me a better example of how we want a player to play than Billy Sharp, please point it out now.

As PeteBlade says . Billy gets paid well to score goals . That's his job. Agee boo.

Not sure about captaincy but thank you, Billy, for saving us from complete and utter embarrassment this season. People think it's been bad and it has but it could've been a whole lot worse if it wasn't for Billys' effort, work rate and commitment in most games.

Not denying that your Lordship, but again last night, it was Billy Sharp who held a player off to see the ball over our line, so we had a goal kick, defenders job, it was Billy popping up in midfield trying to create something and it was Billy shooting from outside the box.

If he just hung around up front, waiting for service, I would agree that he gets paid well for that. But he doesn't, he is like a one-man-team at times.

Each to their own opinion of course, and this one is mine, he is a real leader on the pitch, by actions, not words.

Matt Done, as in when he came last season. That lad puts more effort in than loads of others and has been let down by Billy when playing near him for not closing down fast enough in certain games. He is having the enthusiasm and desire ripped away from him because of how he is being played.
As said Billy is paid to score and should have had loads more. He let us down last night and I do not think he was the best player for us last night either. How long does he want some times to make a pass?
I have no doubt that without Billy we would be in serious trouble at the wrong end but he is not the ultimate saviour.

No problem with your sentiment and agree on Matt Done, thought him and Billy played well together away at Wigan. Matt Done and Terry Kennedy came on away at Port Vale and kept our loss to 2-1, when we could have been much worse. For whatever reason, Adkins sees Adams as the strike partner and wants Done out wide.

I never said it would change the season pal, but I know that if I had ever been good enough to be a professional footballer, and then played for the club I have loved and supported since being a lad, it would be fantastic to wear the Captain's armband, even if only once. Don't forget Higdon was given the armband!

Okay, great for Billy (who is A BLADE) but what else?

Would it make Billy do any more to gee up the overpaid wankers he shares a changing room with?

Nice gesture, but ultimately pointless and futile. We need to concentrate on abusing the other 10 useless wankers, rather than distracting ourselves with stuff like this.

I think BS should concentrate on what he was brought in for to score goals. The matches I have seen on Sky and heard on commentary on BP he appears to be trying to do everything, last night was an example of that back as a fullback, midfield on the wing he must be shattered after a game. Does he need the responsibility of the captaincy as well, it doesn't matter now but we need BS in and around the penalty area not doing other players jobs. Vinnie Jones said on Goals on Sunday if a player didn't do his job on the pitch he was made aware of it in the changing room by the other players, can't imagine that happening with this crew.

That's exactly my point, it is a nice gesture for a hard working player, it won't change this season, nothing can now, we start again next term.

The season is already washed out, so I don't actually see this as a responsibility. Just my opinion.
