every Blade wants him to be a success here (I think) and I definitely would, but are we ever going to play the football that suits him? or if he stays and gets a game will he be doing the same old running into the channels and not scoring?

:D every dog has his day ..... Billy boy has cheap as chips by the balls  and i don't blame him.

Dont understand what the big thing in signing nosy is, he was ok but theres far better out there!

There may be better out there butnot that we could afford. Bartley would not be our player and still has a lot to learn.Nosworthy has seen it,done it and gotpace. At the right price,he would be ideal I believe.

Sharp staying.......doesthismean henderson will be sold to gdet the cash in ?

That would depends on if he's fit enough to pass a medical yet

I've always said that the reason he didn't score goals with us the first time round had sod all to do with Robson or Blackwell. He just hit a bad patch of form and then before you knew it we had shipped him off to Doncaster.

I'm pretty confident that he will come good this season.

Bad news for us I think. The likely scenario is that he'll play a bit here and there, or be on the bench until his contract runs out. This means we'll have to pay his wage for another year and miss out on the £1m fee, and this will have consequences on what we'll be able to bring in this summer.

BIlly Sharp .. I think ListerBlade is right when he says most Blades want hin to be a success with us. He's one of ours. Yes, he's not done it when tuurning out in the red n white stripes but given the type of striker he is he's simply not been played, whilst with the Blades, in a position that suits his style of play

At every level with every club he's scored goals. I said to a friend just prior to his sale to Scunny, "he'll play in the top flight one day and for England" (!!). He's a natural goalscorer BUT he has to be played in a way that utilises his goal-poaching instincts.

Every team he's played him, from young boy to professional he's banged 'em in, EXCEPT as a first team striker for the Blades.

I honestly don't know whether it's how we played him or if he can't step up. But I suspect we when a part of our team our tactics didn't suit his style. He needs to play centrally and feed off balls into the box. If he gets the service , AND he's played in the right position he'll score.

With the signing of Brittan I hope this is an indication that we will play in a similar vein to Blackwell's first few games in charge when he took over from Robson. Really, the play was fantastic to watch, it was expansive and exciting and in a team that plays that way I think Billy will prosper & score with abandon.

If .....

Wants to stay in S. Yorks and fight for his place.

Bad news if he doesn't go to Donny then, as we need the funds to sign Nossy! :(

On top of that, KB and Km wont be happy bunnies, as he walks for nowt in 12 months time!

I think that is partly true. I suspect he has turned them down but I think JS is inferring that this means he wants to stay, which I doubt given the apparant dislike between BS & KB.

July 2007 - September 2009: That's some bad patch of form!

if he stays, who do we think he'll play best with up top? cressy? or boogy? or even evans?

He might be holding out for a move to Doncaster. He seems to have enjoyed it there.

IF he stays(which personnelly would love)i would play him in a strolling roll like dane whitehouse ended up playing his latter days at utd.Give him that role to (float around) the attackers, but in front of the midfield.

I personally hope it was that he just tried too hard, and that now he has that bit more experience, especially at this level, he can shine for us. Unfortunately, I've heard too many stories of rifts with management.

I know the 'rifts with management' story appears to have a foundation, but people do change with time, and even insurmountable problems have a way of being tackled and smoothed over with a bit of perspective.

However, there is another assumption here that Billy and Blackie are the two that will have to get on. What about if it was Billy and someone else, he said intriguingly..?

Agreed. I think this is a big blow to our plans this summer. £1m+ that won't be coming in and £500k that remains on the wage bill.

Difficult to see us paying any transfer fees without cash coming in and Sharp offered a great chance to cut the wage bill significantly with zero impact on the first team.

Hopefully he's just playing hardball to force a move to Doncaster. If we have to sacrifice a few hundred thousand on the fee to allow us to build a back 4 then we might have to let him win this one.

Want a reason not to play for Burnley?? It's a shithole!

Want a reason not to play for Donny?? It's a shithole!... But a shithole which means he can live where he lives now and doesn't have a 2 hour drive to training every morning and he obviously enjoyed his time there and thinks they'll do well in future.

Personally, i want Henderson sold and to hang onto Sharp.

Sharp, Cresswell, Evans, Bogdanovic (Ward)... That's a good front 4 to have in this league. When we got promoted we had 2+2 in terms of strikers it was mainly Shipperley with Kabba or Webber then later on in the season Akinbiyi came in and it was Ships & Kabba or Akinbiyi & Webber. If we can get lets say Cresswell & Sharp playing together then the other two Boggy & Evans working together that can only be good for us. Keep Sharp, get shut of Henderson.

Torn on this one. Sharp is flying high and might start banging in the goals next season. However, him and KB don't get on so would he get a chance? Then there is the fact that hoofball doesn't suit him. Couple that with the fact we need money for strenghtening key positions (i.e. defence) then it seems we should be getting rid. However, I'd be happy to keep him and take a chance providing we can shift Henderson. There is a chance KB might be sacked, move on or whatever and i'd like Sharp to be around if/when he does. Get Henderson shifted first, spend the money on a couple of defenders. If Billy wants to stay then give him another chance.

For me, the bottom line appears to be that Blackwell doesn't rate him and if that's the case, he isn't going to get a run of games in the team. Depends what's happening with Hendo but even then, is he going to start ahead of Ched, Cressy, Ward or even Boggy ?

No doubt he would rather get into our team than anyone elses but if bringing someone in is dependent on him going then we are up a certain creek.

Obvious scenario, this. Billy wants to play for us, knows he won't get a chance under KB but doesn't care. Probably hoping he gets the sack around Christmas. The ball is completely in his court. He'll agree a loan deal with a recall clause. If the sacking doesn't happen, he's got a nice signing on fee waiting for him in August from a whole host of clubs. Fair play to him.

Doing what most footballers will do. Sit out a very lucrative contract and pocket a nice free transfer. Thinking only of himself and maximising his ££££. Fair play to him I would do the same.

Fair play to Billy the Blade for screwing us over but Paddy moving on for a huge pay increase means he should be shot at dawn

If United were making the assumption that they would rake in a nice chunk of cash for Billy then they have been very naive. Its no secret that he has always been determined to succeed in a United shirt and its no surprise that he is being selective about where he goes.

If signing new players is totally dependant on selling Billy, then that is deeply worrying. Personally I dont blame the lad and I would love to see him become prolific at the lane but I dont think he ever will. There is just something about the scenario that doesnt work. Getting somewhere in the region of £1.5M for him would be decent business for United but I think Billy might hang on to see what happens over the next 6-12 months. Who can blame him and we forget, Billy might be on a nice big salary from when we signed him with our parachute payments. Remember we had to fend off 2 or 3 other clubs to secure him!

I think there is room for Billy to compete for a place alongside Evans, Cresswell, Bogdanovic and Ward. Henderson would sadly be the odd one out for me and United will almost certainly move him on for the right price.

I would imagine its got nothing to do with 'fighting for his place' as its pretty apparant that he will not play for this manager. It comes down to either United get the million quid or Billy gets the million quid. Unless another club comes in and wants to make up the difference then that will be that.

Agree with all that Lou, problem is, KB rates Hendo as one of the best strikers in the division. If the rumours are true, we don't know much of a say he had in the Boggy signing but whichever way you look at it, someone is going to have to be shifted .
