I’m not sure whether I would agree with that. I really don’t think a few heartfelt words from Chris would go amiss, as a general rule I think most people like to feel appreciated - mature / experienced or otherwise. I’m drawn towards a conclusion that perhaps they’ve had some strong words with each other behind the scenes and maybe things are still a little frosty. But I’m speculating, who knows.

True, but as you say, who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Perhaps Wilder bought him a Peroni and gave him a man-hug behind the scenes. Saving the public stuff for those who need it.

Not really no. I think Billy does play better when he’s got a point to prove at times but he’s clearly fitter and stronger than he has been, that’s not just developed since the first 2 games that’s pre season work. And in pre season he was bagging a few.

He should’ve started the season for me. He drives us and is the best striker we have at running the channels and creating openings, he might’ve pulled Swansea’s backline around a bit more and I don’t think he’d have let us become as flat as we did.

Boro he couldn’t have done anything about defensively but if those chances that fell to Leon had fallen to him we’d have potentially come away with a point.

Just my opinion.

The fact he didn’t play a minute against Wednesday is disgusting to be honest and it’s the biggest mistake Wilder has made since he came. To play James Wilson ahead of him was a stinking decision.

Not a dig at Chris but I don’t think ‘he’s’ got the best out of him. Adkins got 20 goals out of him the season before in the worst team I’ve seen.

Ainsley Harriot could be in charge and Billy would still get 10 goals if he was picked. He scores goals - it’s just what he does. Regardless of the gaffer.

There have been a few times in Sharps time under wilder that he went through dry patches and people were calling him to be dropped.

I think it’s too simplistic to say, Sharp is scoring now, therefore he would have scored all those times he wasn’t playing.

The reason sharp is sharp right now could well be down to the fact he’s rested and hungry due to limited game time.

Just a theory.

I don’t know, but he was given an open opportunity to heap praise on Billy in his post-match interview again today and chose to speak about Leon Clarke again instead. I wouldn’t be surprised if that somewhat disheartens the lad.

I couldn’t disagree more with that. It looked fine at QPR, and I don’t think he could have been more effusive with his praise in between the two games. He has always at times when players have done well in a game not gone overboard with praise and instead tried to spread it around.

Unless you’re looking for a reason why a manager hasn’t picked Sharp (and there are plenty of perfectly legitimate reasons why he wouldn’t) then there is nothing in how Wilder conducted himself yesterday to suggest their relationship didn’t look right.

Will probably just copy and paste the above next weekend when the same thing’s mentioned.

Agreed, Wilder's a football manager, not everyone's best pal. He's a harsh critic when things aren't going well, and I'd be very surprised if he didn't piss Billy and others off on occasion. But they're all professionals and paid a lot of money to act professionally. Any arguments will have a line drawn under them.

I have said it ever since Wilder started leaving him on the bench. You can’t afford to leave a player like that out. It doesn’t matter how well he’s playing, he’s always likely to get into a good position and almost as likely to convert it.

He’s a proven goal scorer and leaving him out is f***ing stupid, whether you’re Chris Wilder or anyone else.

Correct (I think) - billy is still 3rd atm but will overtake Rooney with two more goals - lambert is a dozen ahead of that
