Billy and Leon

It doesn't seem to work for some reason. Both seem completely unaware of where the other is and I can't recall at any point tonight one of them passing to the other, although I could be wrong.

I'm a little disappointed in Wilder for dropping Done for Clarke, I don't understand the need to change a winning side. I know Done wasn't scoring but the team was doing well and winning. I hope he reverts back to Sharp and Done for the next league game.

Yeah drop Sharp, only scored 12 goals and fired us from bottom to 2nd alongside Done. Sharp = clearly not good enough.

Overreaction or what. Tell yer what let's play Billy for every single minute for the rest of the season shall we?

We play Bolton in a cup game, good chance to try a different approach as we've struggled to break teams down in the last 4 games. What's the harm in resting Sharp for a game? I didn't say banish him from the squad. Chill.

I'm not the manager but prior to him scoring a hat-trick I was in favour of playing Chapman alongside Sharp.

Nothing has changed my mind since.

I wouldn't drop Billy, though would take him off pens. He's shown himself most likely to get a goal in this team. Smacks a little of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

The concern of playing a winger as centre forward is that he might not have the finishing of a dedicated forward. Not really the case with Chapman as he has 4 already from limited opportunities, has pace which we are lacking and would further add to the fluidity the midfield of Fleck, Coutts and Duffy brings.

I think its got to be one of Clarke/Sharp next to one of Done/Lavery.Tonight we weren't winning the ball back as high up the park, and it impacted our whole game negatively.Sharp and Clarke want to play in the same areas and refuse to run the channels. They also play too far apart and have little understanding or appreciation of one another. If Wilder must play them, he has to use conventional wingers to take advantage of Clarke's strength in the air, and limit any reliance on interplay.

Here's a thought.
Billy is the prodigal son. A blade through and through. And he's captain.
Along comes Clarke,ex-pig with a pretty decent goalscoring record.
Now I might be way off beam here, but could it be a case of "I'm not sharing with you and I want my ball back"????

There is previous here. So you may well be right.

Not sure they are the best of pals off the pitch either, and boy does it show !

You are spoiling a hypothetical theory with facts there.
"Seeming to gel" isn't a fact. The only "fact" that matters is points obtained. With Done starting up front in place of Clarke, P14 W11 D3 L0 = 36 points (2.6 per game); With Clarke replacing Done up front, P6 W0 D3 L3 = 3 points (0.5 per game). One is championship winning form, one is relegation. [Although I wouldn't underestimate Wright's impact on these stats either]

They don't seem to click together. Maybe Leons not up to speed yet but somehow it doesn't seem to gel.

I totally agree, they do not work together at all!

I noticed this problem earlier on in the season and definitely last night, they are too much alike and do not suit each others style of play.

Last night- Clarke won plenty of headers and nodded them on, but Sharp was no-where to be seen running onto the ball, this does not suit Sharp's style of play being an in-box poacher. Sharp suits a style of play with players running off him, passing it about and a steady build up, hence why Done and Sharp works well and Done does all the running about and closing down where Sharp takes it easy and gets into them right positions in and around the box.

Same comes the other way- Sharp holds up the ball and passes it about and Clarke is suited again to a poacher role, but crossing the ball and winning headers is his main trait. I find that when Done is not on we lack the width up top and to me that was noticed last night until Chapman came onto the pitch. Clarke also cannot hit a barn door!

In my personal opinion, the pair don't work together and never will. They are too much alike and do not play off each other. Last night I feel that we lacked with Done's ability, many which will disagree but Done puts pressure onto the oppositions defence, he runs them down and does not give them time on the ball, I think the tempo when he is on the pitch is much higher, he gets into wider positions giving Sharp or whoever his partner is up-top time and space.

I would like to see Sharp and Done starting the next game, maybe Clarke can come on later on in the game but I would prefer not for him to start, especially with Sharp, and that sounds stupid with Clarke being a top goalscorer for this division and Sharp throughout his career, but it just does not work.

Apologises, I thought you was saying drop Sharp and not rest him for one match.
