Big team sympathy Referee

47% - 53% Possession now in Villa's favour

I just hope we don't relax in the 2nd half, I still don't feel confident when we shut the shop up. You just can't where United are concerned

Thought we didn't get any sympathy today in fact I though..... Oh I see, you meant Villa

Original tread started about HT but it continued through the second half.

I would bet £1 GBP that Billy wasn't offside too.

Although I'll let that lino off a bit because he told a Villa player to coco when he wanted a throw in. Started waggling his leg around and it was amusing.

Tbf when we scored our 3rd Girlish was kicking off at him and he put his fingers to his lips.

Glad he didn't fall for Girlish's tantrumesk display looking for a free kick throwing himself on the ground thrashing about, embarrassing.

Hope Girlish makes the 'let's all laugh at diving' spot on football a.m.

The ref made some unbelievably bad decisions today, off the top of my head

There was the trip on McGoldrick, for which he didn't even give a free kick
The foul on Sharp that he gave the other way
The blatant back pass towards the end that the keeper picked up
Lafferty shielding the ball in the corner, gets pushed over and he gave the free kick to Villa

I'd say he was absolutely fucking clueless, but that would flatter him

As good as the referee was v Bolton, he was as bad. Blowing the whistle every few seconds. And seriously favoured Villa.

He was horrific. Lapped up all their playacting and clearly wanted a Villa win.

However.

Sheffield United 4 - 1 Aston Villa plus referee.
So many times it seemed today that the ref was determined to get a Villa win, McG's clear goal-scoring opportunity not being given is a total travesty and should surely be looked at again.

Got one today.

Father-in-law (a pig) asked me “how bad were Villa?” (Notice how he started it by asking not how good we might have been....?)

He mentioned that he hates Villa more than he hates us.

He also reminded me that last season Wendy committed 19 fouls against the game at Hillsborough last season.

Villa??

1.

One foul all game.

There was a free kick in the second half that was one of the most baffling decisions I’ve ever seen in football. Should have been ours, but they got it.

The ref tried his very best to give them a lifeline. Alas, it failed.

It's like the BBC sports headline that starts
" Aston villa thrashed at Bramall Lane". Which has now become, " Players must look at themselves - Bruce".
Notice the lack of focus on us.

This report is a fucking joke.

We get a paragraph at the bottom. Villa this, Bruce that. As though it was entirely a mistake on their part and not due to the fact that we played some of the best football you could ever wish to see.

Not even a picture of a goal or us celebrating. Absolute bastards, I'd complain but it means shit all.

At least Sky have this picture on their report, correctly titled "rampant Blades demolish Villa"

At least the ref was consistent, in that he consistently gave them all the decisions and consistently gave us nothing. Apart from the ones already mentioned, there were 2 nasty fouls after the ball had gone that the ref didn't think even warranted a booking, one by Grealish on O'Connell in the first half (incidentally, Grealish could have easily been sent off by a different ref as he should have got booked for his petulant kick at Basham too). There was another on Basham in the 2nd half but I'm not sure which Villa player committed the foul.

It’s not often that a ref gets booed off at half time ... when we are 3-0 up!

Those few seconds at around 3:50pm kind of summed up the whole game, for me :)
