There were highlights of the 7-0 win against Ipswich shown on YTV in the next day but in the YTV video of Blades goals produced in 1993 the goals of that match were not in it. I wrote a letter to YTV asking why the 7 goals werent included. They replied saying it was because the footage were of poor quality!

Forest Playoff semi 4-3

Sat (stood) at the back of the Kop with loads of mates. 2-0 down, Brownys free kick straight after their second to start the fightback, Kabbas rocket, peschi's trickery, Des Walkers' misery and Page's immediate own goal to keep us on our toes. Entire Kop singing 'Glory glory' for the last 15 minutes non-stop, going absolutely mental after every goal, walking home on such a high!

Also fondly remember beating Coventry in Quarter finals of FA Cup, Holdsworth last minute equaliser, Alan Kelly saving three pens on Saint Patricks Day and a pitch invasion. Fantastic!

7-0. Division 1 27th November 1971 (Woodward 4,1 pen, Badger, Dearden, Reece).

Cue Silent to tell me I have the scorers on the wrong order :)

AND... for you younger viewers!

Back in those days, if Yorkshire Television (YTV, Keith Macklin and all that) were televising a game at the Lane, they carried all their gear in a shitty brown furniture van. The 'TV gantry' was a scaffolding jobbie on the cricket pitch (about where the players tunnel is now) and, so televising the game wouldn't affect the crowd, they used to hide the old furniture van out of the way, down a side street.

And after posting my 'worst' games, I should restore the balance and post the best I have been to.

05 May 1990Leicester City v Sheffield United 2-5
I was in my early teens and wasn't that interested in footy or the blades much until I went to THIS game (and watched Italia '90!).

01 Feb 1992Nottingham Forest v Sheffield United2-5
John Gannon. Jumping up and down in the away end. Just a fantastic atmosphere and a crazy scoreline. I could also list the 4-2 (Mike Lake/Zico) game against Man City a few weeks later but will stick with this one.

11 Mar 1992Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield United 1-3
Probably the best away game I've ever been to, mainly because it was so unexpected, but so sweet! The home win was also an enjoyable one!

28 Mar 1992Sheffield United v Liverpool2-0
Listed this because I thought we actually dominated this game and made Liverpool look ordinary. This was the point we should have pushed on in the top division and been there for many years because I thought we were a match for anybody after this.

15 Aug 1992Sheffield United v Manchester United2-1
The euphoria of beating Man Utd, in the hyped up new Premier League.

02 Mar 1993Sheffield United v Tottenham Hotspur6-0
Great performance, particularly remember Franz Carr's goal. Was it from a short corner?

16 Mar 1993Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers 2-2 (FA Cup)
Another great atmosphere following watching the 0-0 away result on a big screen at Bramall Lane.

17 Mar 1998Sheffield United v Coventry City1-1 (FA Cup)
I'd been to Highfield Road for the original tie and we were pretty good and got this replay. Again, a decent game and a fantastic atmosphere. We didn't always lose on penalties!

19 Oct 2002Brighton and Hove Albion v Sheffield United 2-4
Stuck on a temporary stand that I thought was going to collapse every time we scored (which seemed to be at will).

08 Jan 2003Sheffield United v Liverpool2-1 (League Cup)
One of many great home games that season, two fantastic Tonge goals gave us hope.

15 May 2003Sheffield United v Nottingham Forest4-3
Perhaps the best home game ever. I was at the away leg which I thought was a very professional performance but this was much more crazy. As everyone else said, the atmosphere was unbelievable, and the come back epitomised that season.

22 Apr 2006Luton Town v Sheffield United 1-1
Not sure why I'm putting this in, because we were awful, but it was so great going to a game with no pressure knowing we were already up, sitting in the home end and somehow getting a draw.

30 Dec 2006Sheffield United v Arsenal 1-0
It was Christmas so people were in generally good spirits and we outbattled Arsenal and the gutsy performance after Jags went in goal was great to experience.

30 Jan 2007Sheffield United v Fulham 2-0
Much like the Liverpool game above from 1992, this was probably our most dominant performance in the Premiership. It should have been more, and SQuinny had a blinder.

10 Mar 2012Brentford v Sheffield United0-2
Maybe the best away game I went to last season, Blades everywhere (taking over most of the pubs), and dispatched Brentford who weren't bad at home, relatively comfortably. Bournemouth away was similar.

I'd also like to add a couple of defeats for excitement reasons.

05 Oct 1991Leeds United v Sheffield United 4-3
I went with a Leeds fan in the home end for this and at 4-0 it was embarrassing, but when we made a comeback and almost snatched a draw it quietened them down a bit!
The 3-2 home defeat to Leeds that gave them the title is also worth a mention for the excitement, although at the time I was very angry that our rivals had won the title on our turf, and from an own goal nonetheless.
