blades beat reading away 3-2 the yr we went down from the champ, took me youngest to his first ever game. we went 2 down early doors and the reading fans around us were going crazy, i wasnt too bothered as i was expecting a spanking. out of nowhere hendo pulls one back, then quinn crosses to williamson and its 2-2. we defended really well in the 2nd half, got a goal again from hendo and held on for a win. sadly it wasnt enough to help us stay up, but was micky adams only away win whilst being manager.

Been, and seen good bad and very bad games following united, so if i can just change tack slightly, and say the best run for united was seven in row wins beatin united and chelsea in that run.Under sir dave.

Seen some great games involving united over the years including wins over man yoo , Liverpool arsenal , leedscum a d the pigs but the most exciting game for shear emotion and drama has to be the 3-2 ( I think ) win over forest which was our first win all season And came just before Xmas
I remember grown men running up to each other on the streets afterwards in absolute ecstasy as if we had won the league , we ended up finishing ninth that season and it was just reward for the fans for sticking with it when we had become a national laughing stock

Wish blades fans were still so unwavering nowadays

Oh Judgey I think they would be if the same thing happened again. It's just we've now sunk so low when really we had an opportunity to do fairly well. The fault we didn't probably lies with Sir Neil and a bit of McCabe aided and abetted by "Herman Munster man" and the East End wide boys.

I must admit hearing that result cheared us up no end and when we went on that run. Winning at Luton away and Sunderland is what saved us as the momentum was really with us then.

Bassetts battlers - can we commission a footie medal?

A couple stick out in my mind. One at Millwall in 2005 that we won 4-0. It was a cold Tuesday evening and we only had a small away crowd but the team performance kept us jumping. A great night.

Last season's game at home against Chesterfield was also a special night. I had invited a couple of non Blades (one Liverpool fan, one Blackburn) along and they were skeptical about it to say the least. We'd started warming up with some drinks on the way over from my friends in York, and then hit the club shop before the match where I insisted on them getting Blades shirts (there was a special offer where you but a home shirt and get the away shirt free I think). By the time we took our seats in the middle of the kop it wouldn't have mattered what the result was, but a great second half (including Ched's hat-trick right in front of us) meant the 4-1 win made the night complete. I've taken them both to a couple more matches since.

I really enjoyed the away trip to Cardiff in '09. Last season they had Ninian Park, we won 3-0 and they had two sent off. Cracking atmosphere and the sun was shining.

Got to be the 5-2 win at Leicester. Great win, powerful attacking football (Deane & Agana were unstoppable), promotion to the top flight for the first time in my years watching the Blades, massive & noisy away following - & then we heard Big Fat Ron's pigs had lost at home, other results had gone against them & they'd gone down. Doesn't get better than that. The drive back through Sheffield, flags draped from the car, giving some to the distraught pigs we passed was brilliant.

i wasn't at that game but if there was a best day of my life thread .....

yes Leicester will take some beating , although the 5-1 win over Cardiff to clinch promotion was the loudest Ive ever heard the Lane,
also a 5-0 drubbing of Arsenal and Currie sitting on the ball in revenge was the best performance ever

A great night it was! I lived in London at the time and through someone at work I was able to get my two younger brothers as mascots :)
I made him cover his shirt up sharpish on the way out as we had to travel home to north London with millwall fans all around!

Home game - Forest (4-3) atmosphere unbelieveable, shading the 5-3 vs Cardiff, 0-0 at half-time

Away game - 2-2 vs Stoke (boxing day), 2 nil down with minutes left and Taylor and then Deano scored late on, shut those horrible Stoke t**ts up....

It wasn't the greatest game I've ever been to but I have always enjoyed the game where we bea Sunderland 2-0 in the then Worthington cup in 2002. I still can never believe that season was 10 years ago now.

Darlington away- last game in the 4th division.

Constant fancy dress pitch invasions and the last 15 mins played with 100s of Blades standing over the touchline on all 4 sides.

I'll go with the Forest Play-off game - the most physically exhausted I've ever been leaving the Lane, incredible. Legged it up to the Devonshire Cat after the game just in time for last orders and shouted in four pints each just to try and get my nerves back in order!
