I was chatting in the car with my lad about which game he thought was the best game in the triple assault season.
We discussed four games;
League cup v Leeds (jags wonder goal)
v Pigs (Browny volley)
Play off semi v Forest (comeback from 2 down)
League cup semi v Liverpool at home.

For my lad it was the Leeds game as it seemed to kick start that season and the manner of the comeback including Jags goal was amazing.
For me it was the semi against Liverpool for all the ingredients with great goals, comeback and Atmosphere.

Interested in others thoughts.

I find it difficult to get too excited about first leg games. So the Forest game takes the honours for me.

In the league cup its always the second leg at Anfield that sticks in my mind.

90th minute, 2-2 on aggregate, Kirkland handled the ball outside area, Tommy Mooney hit a thunderbolt free kick, the ball flashed just the wrong side of the post. 6 inches the other side, Liverpool would have been dead and buried, and we would have been in the final.

Leicester at home was probably my favourite league game when Asaba scored in the last minute. Forest game is too easy, I also enjoyed the Palace quarter final & Wolves away.

Let's not forget the fact that Kirkland also manhandled the ref and escaped scott free. Should have easily been a red card. I seem to remember Mooney hitting it straight into the wall, but perhaps my memory is playing tricks. I was screaming at the TV for Brown to take it though.

I remember it going over the Wall & over the Bar

My memory was that it should have been a pen as he hauled one of ours down and then dived on the ball outside the area, and in giving that free kick it should have been a sending off.

Freeze frame at 45 seconds.

This angle isn't great. On TV it showed a replay from behind, and Mooney missed by inches.
Yes, Kirkland should have been red carded, but it wasLiverpool!!

What really annoyed me was that Mooney had just come on as sub (his debut for us) and told Brown he was taking it

league cup home v Liverpool and Leeds, last 10 mins in each game are iconic, the Michael Brown volley and peschi's omg celebration take it to another level,I'm blessed I was there to see them, moments that will live with me forever...

In any other season, beating the pigs with a ferocious volley and premier league teams Leeds (twice), Sunderland and Liverpool they would've easily won the poll.

But..

That Forest game is the best game I've ever been too.

Don't understand this thread at all.

I'm sure this last couple of years it's been decided that Cup games are just pointless shit and the play-offs are to be avoided just in case we lose! I thought the Triple Assault season had been re-named Single Point of Failure.

Does this mean we can go back to enjoying games on their merit rather than some sort of agenda position? Great stuff.

Forest, at the time I fucking despised them every bit as much as Wednesday. To beat them in the manner we did was pure ecstacy.

Mooney was a player that I was really pleased we signed but never looked anything like the player that I thought he was sadly.

Fully agree. I've never left a game feeling so physically and mentally exhausted.

image.jpg I'm not a hoarder, I'm not much of a collector, I literally have one old ticket stub in my house.
That's my answer!
It's not just my favorite of the season, it's my favorite season and therefore favorite ever game.

1. Forest
2. Leeds
3.Wednesday
4.Liverpool
The Forest game for shear entertainment for the whole game. But the Leeds one for giving me the greatest buzz ever coming out of Bramall Lane.
