So what are your memories?

As a player, his best days were before he played at United, but we at least got a glimpse, a cameo of him at the lane and of course he kick started his managerial career with us.

Great for Newcastle
It passed me by that he had played at Everton
Bolton he did well

But for me ...He was magnificent for Leeds, so good in the air and seemed to scored so many important goals.

Painful to say that, but its even more painful that he's gone

Still can't believe it, never thought i'd get so affected by a footballer passing. But I think its the manner in which he died which has had the biggest impact.

Sir Bobby Robson now has a captain for his "heaven 11"... RIP Speedo

I feel the same, Swissblade. I've been away for a few days so couldn't post earlier, but I can't get Speed's death out of my head. How a guy who seemingly had everything going for him could take his own life is utterly baffling. You would have thought that if he'd had a problem he could have phoned any one of dozens of good friends who would have been happy to help him through the crisis. Perhaps the truth will come out sooner or later - or maybe we'll never really know what happened.

My best memories are also those goals earlier in his career.

RIP Gary Speed
