Blades: Sold ours and haven't won a game since.

Do you think there's a link?

Although, Blackman was "a good bit o business" as we spend our third year in the third division.

We do not have a goal scorer.
We do not have a creative midfielder
Our defence has forgotten to defend

I just posted this is the Chat Box!

It seemed inevitable that Wells would score today, not only because we've failed to sign him in the past but also because it highlights the difference knocking back a few bids can make.

47 shots in 2 games with Mcdonald

23 shots in 3 games without

Mcdonald wanted to leave and did. Without the clause he would probably not have signed. ( i would not sign a player with such clauses)

One game was against 1o men for most of the game.

Move on.....we can't go back.

We are shit get used to it.

I'm not sure I agree about just 'moving on', those who fail to learn history etc. If we don't realise our mistakes we'll just keep making them.

McDonald is just the latest in years of selling our best players under McCabe. Everything comes back to an owner & Board who have absolutely no drive or ambition. Our only hope is for McCabe to settle the debts he created and put the club up for sale. Our support alone would make us an attractive proposition if the debts were cleared. It won't happen of course.

Talking about players who have chosen to move on is looking backwards.

I've already said i would not have clauses.

What more could we learn???

Well we haven't learned not the have clauses! (Jagielka and all that). Not building teams around players who have such clauses, also. We could knock back the occasional offer (Nick Blackman, for instance) and see what we can do with the team the manager built over the Summer rather than selling our top scorer at the first opportunity and then wondering where the goals went. We could stop hoping stop gap loans (Forte and Poleon) can replace such players, as I suspect might happen in this instance.

We make these mistakes over and over and our league positions are ever declining.

I know what you mean about getting hung up on players who have left but we demonstrably learn nothing from these situations.

I am trying my best to be patient with DW. The trouble with us is that we keep appointing managers who have a "style of play" in their head and tell the players to play that style rather than a manager who assess our players before deciding on a style of play that will suit them

We "move on" at least once and quite often twice a season. Things are always going to be different. Lessons have always been learned. And it just gets worse and worse and worse. One group of lackeys replace another. One crap manager replaces another. A lumpen mess of mediocrity replaces another. The one constant? The rancid prawn stuck to the bottom of the freezer? The shite that you just can't flush? Guess.

4 league games in? Don't strain yourself!

5 in total. 4 shit performances and 1 decent but against a side with 10 men who have 1 point from 4 games. Can't write him off yet but all his signings apart from Brandy don't look good enough and the style of play is painfully slow and negative. But apart from that....

Like Wilson and even Blackwell before him, Weir is being expected to achieve with fuck all or having key players taken out from under him. I've only seen three games under his management so I can't form an opinion of how well he's doing but most if not all of our problems aren't down to David Weir.

Harking back a bit, but just like Leeds did when they decided to keep Beckford despite bids from Premier League clubs. Yes, he left for nothing in the end, but I do believe they were promoted.

Agree. McCabe is clearly the main culprit. Weir has made a crap start and needs to change his approach - 1 up front at home to Colchester ffs - but we can't write him off yet

Exactly. 42 games to go and this is already the end of the world.

Because things are only going to get worse, not better, if the better players are continually allowed to move on and replaced with shite as a best case scenario or not replaced at all as a worst.

We have long term problems and there's little scope for short term solutions. I'm not pretending we're anything other than poor (the worst team in my memory in fact), but I am suggesting Weir knows what our problems are, even if he can't solve them this month or even this season.

Latters - That's right, you keep hold of them in you're in a postion to challenge and see what happens. Yes if you're offered silly money, or are really up against it financially then you might need to sell but for Christ's sake we'd had Blackman six months are were top at Christmas, could we not have held onto him for a few more months and made a decent fist of it?

I would argue Wilson did this. Last season his players were simply not good enough, and he maximised what it was possible to get from them with a fairly attritional, defensive style. His signings arguably let him down. And when one came off,or appeared to be doing so (Blackman and Miller respectively) they were sold/got injured.

agree with you. It was the same with Billy McEwan. He lost a lot of players an tried to make the team play football but we didnt have enough quality players. I remember some neutral football fans who went to Sheffield University/College in the mid 1980s saying that they would rather watch the Blades than Wendy because we play more football than Wilkinson's Wendy. Local Wendy fans didnt mind what style of football they were playing ass long as they were winning matches while local Blades fans stopped going to Blades matches despite that McEwan tried to make the players pass the ball a lot. We need to get out of this division ASAP

We haven't got any "best" players.

Absolute garbage the lot of em on todays showing.

McGinty wants to get back to his goats and the rest of em should just hang there heads in shame.

That was diabolical today and coming from a confirmed clapper like myself that really is saying something !!!

Yet we created a number of good chances today. Would KMac have made a difference today? I doubt it.

No good having a go at DW, as a Manager he does have potential, and remember when he was given the job, the 'hundreds' who were desperate to be SUFC Manager were turned away by McC.

And please don't lets hear cries of bring back Warnock
