Fully agree. Nowadays he isnt even half the player he wasRooney for man u in Prem at lane. By far the best performance I've ever seen. He was absolutely Everette everywhereand scored both goals.
On July 21, 1964, he died after being struck by lightning while on a golf course in Enfield. He was sheltering under a tree during a thunderstormPlaying golf i think. Best midfielder ive ever seen.
Just for a bit of fun, who are the best ever players you’ve seen play against Sheffield United in the flesh?
To be unbiased, I’ve based mine on the most honours/trophies won at International, European and Domestic club level.
I’ve excluded players who were well past their best when I saw them (e.g. Thompson for us, Moore and Best for Fulham)
I’ve only seen us play in the top flight for 5 seasons and I don’t get to many away matches, so that reduces the choice a bit further.
So based on the above criteria, here is my team:-
Schmeichel
G.Neville, Mascherano, Carvalho, Irwin
Ronaldo, Ballack, Fabregas, Robben
Henry, Bergkamp
Subs:- Grobbelaar, R.Ferdinand, Viera, Scholes, Giggs, Rush, Tevez
Any other suggestions, changes, improvements?
George Best playing for Man Utd at the Lane, my first United game.
Gazza played for Spurs but was anonymous.
Rooney didn't do much when he was here.
Ronaldo an all-time great...miss.
(Never thought much of Cantona - despite that goal.)
Best individual performance Steve Conroy in the 1-0 win against Liverpool. Can't think of anything similar against us.
Reminds me Kenny Dalglish - another one didn't do much.
so many , bobby charlton george best alan ball bobby moore, cantona , bergkamp worthington , dalglaish keegan shearer callaghan marsh lee mckay bremner lineker mortimer kendall geoff hurst

Adams Bould brady steve bull,
Malcolm McDonald for Arsenal. I think he scored 4? Awesome.

Having cancelled Sky Sports last summer, I was able to avoid watching last night's game. I made the mistake of listening to it on the radio but had the consolation that I could have a browse through YouTube while I did and I came across a couple of compilations that illustrate my comments earlier on this thread.
This one contains, between 0.35 and 1.03, a goal past Ron Springett followed by my favourite ever goal "celebration". Also, at 1.55, how to deal with an aggressive opponent:
And this has many examples of simply effortless finishing. The goal between 2.48 and 2.59 is particularly good:
The whole world was going on about it because he was the only footballer whose interviews didn't consist of "Well, I've got the ball in, like, a good place, like, to, know what I mean, like, have a shot, like, know what I mean, like."What he said about seagulls was so obvious what he meant, yet the whole world was going on about it, like it was some kind of undecipherable code. Drove me crazy that.
Cantona is mainly the legend he is for thisYeah but to be fair, Cantona is mainly the legend he is for the collar up thing. If his shirt didn't have a collar, he'd just be some French bloke who could play a bit. Like Zidane.

Johnny Haynes , John Collins , Fulham
Stan Bowles QPR.
Colin Bell Man City.
Don't know we're they would line up but sheer class.
UTB
Jimmy Greaves left Spurs for West Ham in March 1970 (not 1969 as stated in video). Martin Peters went in the opposite direction
