I know it's only early and we have proved nothing yet but...

It's great that we have only let 3 goals in so far.

Collins was excellent today and looks like a different player to last year as a few others do.

I was shouting at them for the last 15 mins to look after the clean sheet....let's hope we keep it up.

I also like the goals coming from all over the team!

:)

Agree SF, Danny has done something that looked impossible, were a team again.

It helps that the back 5 have played every minute of every game so far I believe. They also have plenty to offer going forward with the way Wilson has got them playing ,with Lowtons goals ,Collins forays and defence splitting passes ,Jean Francois will get more opportunities to improve his crossing and Maguires got a great shot on him (why did he try and place the free kick ? ) No negatives today.

Did you put money on Tønne scoring the last goal Sitters? (was you that mentioned it before the game wasn't it?)

It is indeed great to see first of all a consistant selection at the back and their continued solidity. There are still kinks, but overall, we are proving to be difficult to break down so far - even when attacking in numbers.

First thing I thought of at the ground, well that and....

Christ my pocket is on fire! - when the deluge of piss taking texts arrived.

I wouldn't mind, but him scoring just goes to prove me right! :D

It's clear that Foxy feels some sort of sexual attraction to Tonne.

The defence never really looked in danger.

Im with bet365 and couldn't get a single bet on it ,so I took a double with 3-0. Pissed off doesn't come near.

Does the theory about the stable back 4 also apply to Simmo's performances? On a similar vien, when Morgs is finally fit, would you want him replacing anyone?

Not if they carry on in the vein of form they're in. Of course Morgan is a key player, but if the lads are still playing and improving by the time he's back, we'll be still up there and maybe looking very comfortable, and I wouldn't want to change them unless absolutely neccessary, as the lads will have earnt their places.

I wonder how much Morgs role in coaching is paying off so far?

Got to be really helping both Collins and Maguire, he seems to have a very infectious persona and it's hard not to listen to him, if they've only took half of what he's said so far they've learnt something and it's showing.

Foxy has been bigging up Tonne for a while saying he was v impressed with him in pre season.
Seeing him on Tuesday at Burton I was impressed. Looking forward to seeing the goal tonight.
He could be the answer to the Slew issue.

Well done Tonne and good judge Foxy

Gotta pick you up on that, it's been long before pre-season :)

Our fine start takes the pressure off Morgan to rush back before he is fully fit.
He might even have a tough time breaking back into the lineup the way they are defending at present.

The tips to Harry Maguire seem to have worked.

Morgs - "When kicking the ball out of play, the harder you belt it is a direct indication of your manliness. Row V is a good target. Bouncing down John Street or off the bonnets of swanky motors in the car park is better. That shows you are great, tough as teak, and have a set of swingers that would not disgrace a Brahman bull. In layman's terms, Young Harold, leather the fucker."

Young Harry - "Righto, Morgs."

Morgs - "And snarl at everything too. Puts the proper shits up them southerners and Johnny Foreigners."

ive just read collins` interview in tonights green`un,and it comes across that last season he got the message from the fans that he was playing `shit`,and he felt`shit` about it.
But he went on to add that this season the overall vibe is that of togetherness and last seasons bobar is long behind us.
Long may this attitude continue as ive not felt so good about football for a few years-i think its coming back.

Yesterday was my first time at the lane this season and I have to say I was very impressed, particularly with the back four.

I enjoyed watching Morgs working with the defence during the warm up, they looked very tidy and it was great to see the camaraderie and team spirit between them after concluding the warm up session.

I've read so much bad stuff about Collins but I thought he was brilliant yesterday, he won absolutely everything in the air and looked very comfortable. It was also the first time I had seen Jean-Francois play as well and I was also impressed with his composure on the ball.

Yesterday was great, a good result with some decent quality football and Quinny's showboating to top it off! It's early days but I'm feeling optimistic!

Thats the benefit of having a settled back 4. It's no coincidence that over the last couple of seasons, with the constant chopping and changing of the back 4, that results have suffered accordingly, and now we are reaping the results of trying to set up a steady back 4.

Over the last two seasons we must have had 30 different players play in the back 4 for United, and how many of them could you name, i reckon i probably couldn't name half of them!

The other point i'd like to make is what happens when Morgs comes back, i'd like to think that we will keep Collins and Maguire on current form as the chosen centre-halves and only give Morgan a shirt, in case of injuries, suspension, or loss of form.

We actually own the contracts of whole back four/five. And things suddenly start to look up... Whodathunkit?

Going off tangent here a little bit, but i've been an played Football Manager for a lot of years, and owned nearly every years version, and the one thing that i have noticed is whenever the teams i manage do well, is when i've got a settled back four who i pick every game!

Now i know Football Manager is not real life but i think there is a lot of value in owning your own back four, and having a settled back 4 week in, week out.

The last time i can remember having a settled back 4 was during the play-off season when we usually went with Naysmith/Morgan/Kilgallon/Naughton and they more or less picked themselves for a full season and we looked solid at the back all season.

I noticed that at the Walsall game. I was really impressed with the way Morgs interacted with the back four during the warm up.
