Best comebacks

I was also at the Wigan game. It was amazing that we weren't already about 6-0 down by the time we scored our first! As suggested we were fucking awful for 75 minutes and then Wigan decided to try and play even worse than us! To cap a thoroughly odd game, Billy almost snatched the most unlikely winner right at the death.

For late comebacks, I recall a couple from the 4th Division. Weren't we 3-2 down at York with about 10 minutes left and won 4-3? I vividly remember listening to our game at Northampton on the radio in the days where there were just regular reports and no live commentary. With 7 minutes remaining we were 1-0 down and I remember the reporter saying how poor we were and didn't look like scoring. When they went back a minute before the end of the game, Mike Trusson had scored twice and we won 2-1.
I was at both those games. The Wigan result was the biggest robbery of all time. We were utterly abysmal for 80+ minutes and stole a point. So many Blades had long since walked out…. and to think we walked out gutted by Billy’s miss!!
Northampton as a young lad was another awful performance (and there weren’t too many that season) We were 2nd best all night but 2 Trusson goals (almost identical headers if my memory serves me right) in the 88 & 89th minutes snatched a totally undeserved and unexpected win. Did we care? Like fuck we did!

One that stands out in my mind was at Goodson Park in 1975 . We went in 2-0 down at half time and it could easily have been 4 or 5 , so good were Everton in the first 45 mins .

Our comeback started with a Keith Eddy header from a classic Woody corner and from then on , the Blades put on a fine display orchestrated by TC who went on to score the winner after a Billy Dearden equaliser .

Deep joy . :)

Has anyone mentioned the comeback at Reading in the 2010-11 relegation season?

Reading were still in the hunt for automatic promotion and we were staring relegation in the face.

God knows what got into us that day.

The greatest game thread got me thinking about the best comebacks that we've had either to draw or win. Off top of my head are:

0-3 to 3-3 v Wigan away under Adkins
0-2 to 3-2 v Colchester in about 5 minutes under Clough
0-2 to 2-2 v Pigs
0-2 to 4-2 v Brighton, Asaba hat trick
0-2 to 4-3 v Forest (nearly forgot that one!)
V Brighton home
3 - 0
3 - 4
5 - 4
John Francis winner

thanks silent though tudor got a couple can remember the total shock around the lane when city went 3 - 0 up
Yes

I was on the railings on the terrace bang at the side of the tunnel

my uncle got us to the ground
at 1-15 as it was my first match at the lane so I could get a good spot

my dad was a mad weds supporter and took me to watch them the Tuesday before at home to Cardiff - they win 2-1 , I thought mmmm , ok , then went to the Lane with my uncle (mums brother) in the sat to watch Utd

I felt the pull and sensed the belonging the moment I walked into the three sided ground

when we equalised the place erupted and that feeling , smell and utter joy never left me

had some wonderful banter with dad over the years though

bless him

My neighbour messaged me and another neighbour and asked if we could help him lay electrics to his garden as electrician had let him down and he wasn’t confident to do it himself.

I messaged him back ans said unfortunately we’re playing golf that day.

Well I thought it was a good come back

Page 1...but thanks for the video. Still an outrageous decision to disallow Slew's goal near the end.
Reading away in the 2010/11 season. We were dead and buried, 6 points from safety with three to play then 2-0 down after 20 minutes. I was in the verge of leaving but should have kept the faith as two from Henderson, one from Williamson saw us win 3-2. We promptly blew our chance of staying up by drawing the next game 2-2 against Barnsley.

Sat in their main stand for that one
Sat on my hands too but didn’t work when TC scored
They were brilliant 1st half didn’t we stop them winning the league with that result??

“Why are you so fat Brandes”

“Because everytime l shag your wife she gives me a biscuit”
