What I meant to say is those teams that play in red and white stripes (but with black shorts as most of 'em do) don't usually have their socks white.

I certainly remember the middle stripe changing from red to white, Silent. I was collecting stickers for my album at the time and the pictures had players wearing both varieties.

Talk 'kit' in the old days, you might have been surprised. We rarely had matching shorts, we didn't clean our boots and we didn't carefully arrange anything inside or out, black boots followed brown ones, no multi-colours, all long sleeved, all long shorts, club emblem like a coat of arms, no animal team names. Those were the days!!

68-72 best IMO - thinner stripes, round collar, white socks, the old badge prominent: elegant simplicity.

Worst ones - all the ones that fuck around with the basic template (with the very worst ones involving blue elements before the template was set): the diamonds, the "Ajax", the red shorts & even the white shorts (iconic though their associations are with the respective two eras). Like some though, I reckon last year's was forgivable because of the intentions behind it.

Like the hooped socks from 47-48 & the black socks with red & white tops just later (53-61).

This rare kit was halfway between the 68-72 one before it and the 73-75 one after it. Both manufactured by Umbro as far as I know.

I know I might be odd when I say this but I quite liked Man City's kit they played in last night at Chelsea

Change the blue to yellow, stick a few stripes on and we have an away kit.
