Berge or Lunny v Brighton

In the Robbie savage video Berge says one of his various reasons for coming was “they wanted to play me a lot”.
Chris has clearly told him this. You’d think maybe he would keep starting him in the next few games to keep him feeling confident and settling in well (especially when we’re winning). He’s a big investment and a key player long term. This first month or two is an important time and Wilder needs to manage it in the right way to make sure it goes well. It’s a new thing for the manager - big money foreign players coming in relocating to England and the premier league. As with most things, Wilder seems to have got it spot on so far.

I agree with that. I think Berger is one of a new breed of footballers that we will see come to United over the next 12 months as we improve the quality of the team overall and take it to another level. I see him playing a similar role to that which Ivan Campo played for Bolton, back in the day when they were good! He was a kingpin in their midfield, very strong player, very calm under pressure, difficult to get the ball off him and he dictated play. He wasn't sprinting around all over the place, that wasn't his game, but he was such a key player for them.

Of all the players in the current squad I think the player most under threat from Berger is Norwood. Because I think that's Berger's natural role, defensive midfield. At the moment we're getting him used to the pace of the English game by deploying elsewhere, but I think we'll see him moving into a more central defensive midfield role in the future. I also think we'll see the addition of fast wide players. I don't buy this, "we don't play wingers" argument. I think we are developing the squad to have all kinds of different players who we can throw into the mix to change games.

On the subject of fast wide players, I was impressed by Ryan Fraser of Bournemouth. He's out of contract in the summer as well. I think he'd be a good addition to our squad. Although maybe there's some tricky winger on the continent that we've already got our eye on?

Spuneti-mi?

Cheers, and welcome. Surprising interview I thought – he appears to think Sheffield is “very Hawaii”, presumably because of the warm climate, while he’s already nicknamed one of his team-mates “meadow buttocks”. Guessing that’s Besic for the number of slide tackles he makes.

Fooking brilliant. Nearly hosed my pants

Have only just watched the RS interview with Lundstram after the game. It all seemed very awkward when Giddings raised the question about contract negotiations. I understand that John wouldn't want to comment too much, but you could tell he wanted to move on quickly. I certainly didn't get the sense that he was determined to stay here come what may, and being benched in favour of the new boy has clearly got his back up.
Hmmm, a tad Duffyesque perhaps? Is it a Scouse thing or mere coincidence.

It certainly does look like there is a lot of tension. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he moves on.

He'be daft to. Look at how Billy has handled himself despite relatively few starts.

Ego's need ignoring. It's a squad game and every member can and will play their part. No one though is indespensable.Rightly so.

What's gapped to besic he was rivaling lunny and was just hitting firm, its shouldn't just be a choice from 2.
