Berge or Lunny v Brighton

Probably controversial... but I would play him in the DLPM role ahead of Norwood and have fleck and lunny either side.

FWIW I think he's had a shock about how much more intense and physical the EPL is compared to the Belgian league.

He will need a little time to adjust to the new surroundings and demands.

Couldn't put it any better myself!... I thought the initial post was just a piss take! Which it probably should have been!!
 
Can Berges misplaced pass be down to a brain fart and the fact the ref was dressed in a Genk coloured kit?
 
Has it escaped some people’s notice that it was Berge that returned an overshot corner back into the danger area that lead to Billy’s goal. Deft high flick back into the front of goal.
He wasn’t stand out but he was as solid a a brick shithouse, the only criticism I had was he looked a bit nervous and was a bit to respectful laying it off to other players when he might have been a bit more creative.
With him in midfield Fleck seemed to push further up and it was leaving midfield gaps int first half. But as the match went on we started to get our flowing game back together and he looked the part.

Though recalling the melt down on here when Lundstram was started by CW at the start of this season, this whole thread is quite funny.

Sanders done okay, is brand new to the country, club, system and premier league pace... He'll become a lane legend I'm sure.
I'm gob smacked however that Besic hasn't even made the bench! In recent weeks (IMO) Mo was perhaps our best performing, most impactive midfielder. So Lunny was fortunate to stay in the squad...
But Lunnys made claim to a bench role after today's equaliser and his Palace cameo, otherwise I think Mo would've replaced him as a sub.
That said, as you say - I think we'll keep the same team, plus we shouldn't tinker with a winning side.

Totally agree.

Basically Lunny looked so good today because the game was stretched and he had more chance to show his box to box abilities....he’s been excellent as sub.
Also as already said we didn’t need to buy anyone in the January window but Wilder is ahead of the game.
He’s already planning to tweak our system for next season and Berge, Retsos and Zivkovic have been bought mainly for next season.
Obviously he’s already told Berge about his tactics for next season and told Berge how he‘ll be key to our new system next season.
Berge liked what he heard and that was one of the main reasons he joined us.

Lunny for me .. played very in last two sub appearances & an important well took goal today ... good healthy competition
 
In the Robbie savage video Berge says one of his various reasons for coming was “they wanted to play me a lot”.
Chris has clearly told him this. You’d think maybe he would keep starting him in the next few games to keep him feeling confident and settling in well (especially when we’re winning). He’s a big investment and a key player long term. This first month or two is an important time and Wilder needs to manage it in the right way to make sure it goes well. It’s a new thing for the manager - big money foreign players coming in relocating to England and the premier league. As with most things, Wilder seems to have got it spot on so far.
 



Fortunately this break will allow Berge to gel more with his new teammates and give CWAK a chance to monitor all the recent additions to the squad.
Hopefully they will have some very tough decisions to make when choosing the team for the Brighton game.

Classy and thoughtful post as indeed is Ron’s a couple of lines up
If you compare Lunny’s interview with say Basham or Egan or Billy et cetera
It’s chalk and cheese
Plus Lunny’s goal celebration was extremely clear
Not banging the badge but pointing at himself
Clearly Chris and Alan are already down the road thinking about next season and beyond working out possible permutations of the flat three
false number 10 et cetera
After half an hour today it could have all gone Pete Tong but that is the courage that Chris and Alan have, I understand that the pundits are banging on about Europe and as fans we can’t help looking at the league table with 12 games to go
But Chris and Alan Are not going to sit back and play the obvious and stick with that
There are many examples of teams that have done well on the first season back but increasingly get found out and flounder in subsequent seasons
Question is, is Lunny willing to stick around and graft and adapt
Regards the contract situation,’ oh yes I’m sure me and gaffer will talk about it’
Whereas the rest, so far, I have simply gone about it behind-the-scenes and signed on the dotted line.
The worry for me is he has the same agent as Duffy and even more so how close lunny is to Jack
Don’t get me wrong I want Lunny to stay But if we had to he might be replaceable, but going ahead long term I think it would be a lot harder to replace Jack
 
Berge is being blooded as a new, adaptable midfield player. Given his height, strength and composure, it’s clear that he will eventually be able to play anywhere across the midfield. His current best position is central, defensive midfield, and an obvious shoe in to replace Norwood in the long term.
There will be times next season, when Berge will be the better option than Norwood, so that job might be subject to tactical rotation.
I can also foresee a time, when the big lad is a good fit to play in the Didzy role. We all know how much his skills have been missed lately.
Make Berge adaptable, and flexible enough to suit any contingency, and it won’t matter when he finally gets Norwoods shirt.
Only 21 and plenty to learn, we need him to start as many games as possible, then start putting others under pressure for their preferred shirt. Berge has the class, and the time, to do it all eventually.

Who's gonna sign Lunny?? If I was him I'd be trying to tie myself and my bestie (Jack) to a long term contract.

Almost every signing we make takes a long time to get up to speed with our unique system. Look no further than Lundstram. Everyone can see Berge is class, but needs game time.

That said Lundstram has done too well to ignore and forced himself back in. Glad it's not my decision to make.
 
Lunny needs to recall how CW stuck with him when he first came he looked like an apprentice dean Hammond (may be a bit harsh) but Wilder showed faith in him and ‘made him’ this season. Think his bollocks have gone to his head a bit watching his reaction after scoring yesterday. He needs to realise and accept few players at this level are nailed on week in week out. Until now we didn’t have the strength in depth to rotate players, now we are building a squad he will have to accept the situation. Don’t become the bad apple Lunny!

Thing is, we seem to be the only team using these overloads, why would he know how to play it after two games?
 
Now that we’re all but safe from relegation I think Berge will play nearly every game from here on in. Whether that’s with/without Lundstram I’m not sure yet. Norwood and Fleck may both get suspended at some stage and/or drop in form so its good to have those options. I think they’ll all get games between now and the end. Moving forward to next season then we can’t rely on just the starting XI to play every game (especially if we’re in multiple competitions).
 
Not even a question for me at the moment. Berge has just signed a 4yr contract and clearly wants to be here. Lunny has so far refused to sign a new contract so clearly thinks he may have better options elsewhere. Bringing Lunny on as a sub seems to be working well for both him and us at the moment so why change?
As for people saying to play both and drop Norwood ffs we are 5th in the premier league, how much evidence do you need that the lad is doing a brilliant job for us? UTB
 



How come you're allowed to say someone looks class after two games, but if you say they haven't looked great you get lambasted for judging too early? Weird world this forum init?
