I have no doubt that Sander could have forced a move this window just gone. He could have refused to play/train and we would have had sell him to the highest bidder, likely well under our valuation, just like Aaron Ramsdale.

In fact, it may well have benefited him, at least in the short term; Ramsdale is earning more, at a higher level, thanks to his antics.

It speaks to Berge's professionalism; he's an honourable man.

When the opportunity comes to leave, I imagine he'll do so with the club's blessing, and with his head held high. When his career is over, it will all be worth it. These days too many players burn bridges at too many clubs: When it comes time to re-live the glory days, or take in a game at one of their old stomping grounds, they may wish they had demonstrated a bit more professionalism.
