What type of player is Woodburn? Strengths, position etc.

He was the next big thing. Attacking players (striker/attacking midfielder/wide forward). Scored for Wales but hardly had a sniff for Liverpool. In fact, he's played more times (7) for Wales than Liverpool.

What I've seen of him he likes to play down the left and cut inside on his right. In theory he would be an equal replacement for Dai Brooksy ! He's a talent, no doubt about it.

I've taken a sound dislike to players that are born and raised in England but opt to play for another home country because of some relative. Particularly after David Brooks.

If a player hasn't got the belief that he'll be good enough to play for England and opts for a lesser home nation, then that says enough to me about the character of the player to tell me that he's probably not worth it

Cheshire is basically Wales.North Wales is basically Cheshire.

Still is – it’s not even been a year yet since his debut goal. Expecting him to develop further (he’s been excellent every game I’ve seen him for Wales), but also expecting Liverpool to strengthen. He’d probably be one to loan as the window shuts, as presumably his availability is dependent on who Klopp brings in.

To add to just the one we’ve already got

Well there is not long left in the window and at this moment in time we seem keen on making loan signings instead of permanent ones. Maybe that will change.

I thought they still had a law in Chester , that you could kill a Welshman with a bow and arrow if seen after nightfall from city walls.

That said, Michael Owen was from Cheshire and could have played for Wales and they probably had more claim on him than Woodburn, but he chose England.

It's well known that Ireland and Wales have scouts scourering England for the best young talent and then checking their family trees out and once they find one with a tenuous enough link they lay on the charm very very thick to try and get them to switch, even if the player had never met Granny or even knew they weren't English. I find that quite sad.

Happy to have Sterling though on the other foot, and all those who came before him?

Papers today are saying that Rangers have first choice of anyone that Liverpool send out on loan. If he’s not good enough for Rangers.......

Sterling was raised in England and came through the English system. Just like Brooks and Woodburn did.

Sterling is more Jamaican than they are Welsh, but he probably feels just as English

Thought Liverpool were not sending anybody on loan to Scotland after issues with celtic last season

"lesser home nation"! steady on Paul, you are one step away from saying Engerland are massive!
Seriously, I thought Brooks had a welsh Mum and / or Dad?
If players cant be loyal to the clubs who brought them through their academies why be surprised where they get their caps?
International footballers earn more money and play on a bigger stage, the notion that it matters where you were born and raised disappeared in my little world when Zola Budd arrived in her socks. Different sport I know.

I think the notion of loyalty to ones country for certain people probably went out the window with the invention of the nation state. There's plenty of examples of people fighting for the enemy in pretty much every war you can think of. But that doesn't make switching your national footballing allegiances at a young age right in my eyes.

Just imagine this, where would England be now, if 5 years ago when we were bottom of League One and losing to the likes of Carlisle... a researcher for the Welsh F.A had worked out that one of Harry Maguires Grannys was in fact Welsh and they then signed him up to their under 21s?

Well that makes sense...a season in Scotland will prepare him well for Premiership football!!!!

All I see are players keen to play football on the international stage as regularly and early as possible, eligible to do so, and who might not fancy playing in front of that fucking band every time they play an international game.
