He's not a left back or anything else though :( so where and why does he play?

In my opinion you cant play a player of his size in a back 4, hes not a bad player today was just played out of position

Agree. He's never been a left back and he is too small to play there cos if if you do, you are asking for trouble with a winger ghosting in and beating him in the air.....

I'm not claiming to be the next Brian Clough, but i did have my doubts when I saw the team sheet and saw we had Osborn at left back against a team who are known to be good in the air. Fuck knows what Slav was thinking there.

Don't want to be unkind here but he epitomises our problem.

He is a championship player at best, and Forest weren't too gutted that he left. Yes he tries hard, runs around and is committed (so avoids scrutiny) but is so far off PL quality it's embarrassing.

Yes there are other things more pressing, and he is supposed to be a back-up player but would he even get into any of PL team's squad?

This is what makes me go nuts when we go for players like him, SURELY there has to be someone out there who is better than him outside the UK who we could sign?
Total shite tonight, cost us the goal and doesn't look like he knows how to defend. Drop him please, Norrington has to come in a.s.a.p.

He can cover LB in a pinch, but that's it. It was always his weakest position at Forest.

Had most joy for us in midfield. Put him alongside someone with an eye for a pass & he's a great link player who does enough defensively to offer the side a good balance.

Know what you’re saying but if the other players put anywhere near as much effort in as he does we wouldn't be in the dire position that we are.
That’s bollocks pal they all put effort in ( Mouse I’m not sure ) it’s the way we are being nurtured to play
Osborne and Robinson who looked completely out of their depth are below average at best but put effort in - give me strength

We need to stop saying he can’t play here he can’t play there and just accept he isn’t a very good footballer

Can go at the end of the season, have seen enough unfortunately.

I can't imagine a better club picking him up which says everything

One of our better players today, at fault for the goal but did ok. Can’t help not being as big and strong as the likes of Lerma.
It's very odd that the management keep picking him for key games, some sort of weird comfort blanket thing going on, he is massively out of his depth in the top 2 tiers of English football. We shouldn't have renewed his contract.

He did what I expected him to today, I don’t dislike him but he shouldn’t be anywhere near our starting 11 and should be getting timewasting minutes off the bench as a best case in the PL.

Works hard, always involved - but if he’s been one of the better players it tends to mean the team have been poor.

I’m fine with him being about the place on the bench, but if he starts against forest something has gone wrong.

Hamer for Osborn and Souza for Bash would be an initial request for friday

What you negatively call a 'comfort blanket' is also called using experienced, dependable players.
He did well today, and as can be seen by reactions to comments above, other people thought the same.

Don't read into being picked every week too much. Remember Jay McEvely, Conor Sammon, Craig Beattie, Nyron Nosworthy? They got picked every week too.

Yeah I was surprised he ended up being the one tracking that player and wondering why Lowe hadn't picked him up, wonder if Hecky had told him to drop into defence at times in the second half owing to the amount of balls coming in from our left hand side.

Although I have rightfully given Osborn's continued selection a bit of stick, I actually put more blame on the Palace goal onto Norwood and Basham. Bash let Lerma travel about 30 metres straight through the centre of our midfield with the ball to create the space for Ayew on the wing in the build up to the goal. It was very reminiscent of Wilders second season in the PL and Norwood pointing as runners just galloped through our pathetic central midfield of him, lunny and ampadu. Similarly awful play today and then he has dumped Osborn in it who then just got done by a bigger, faster, more determined and more skillful opponent. And still JLT or Anel could have defended the cross better. A catalog of errors...

Just watched it and don’t blame Ben O, maybe he could have blocked it but we had three players around their one who scored
