If a deal results in us paying more than 25k per week of his wages then look elsewhere

Unless of course we try and negotiate for Cal Doyle on a loan with obligation, Zatterstrom and Young seol woo that'd be very niceHope not, that would leave us in a really rough position, particularly in defence.
How much do you think the total cost of ownership of a decent Championship defender for a season is, just out of interestIf a deal results in us paying more than 25k per week of his wages then look elsewhere

I would imagine burrows might be on 20/25k a week and his transfer fee was say £4m (can’t remember the exact values)
This would a similar exercise for Cooper as well.
But maybe 2-2.5m per year
20k a week on wages - c1m
And 4m fee / 4 year contract.- £1m
He’s probably worth 10m now as well - whereas Godfrey will cost 3-4m for the season. With No future value attached to him. So expensive comparatively.
Next year hes out of contract so hopefully doesn't leave us with that either.Plus next season leaves us with a 33-year old Jack Robinson as our only senior centre back... bit of an embarrassing situation to be in considering the money we've had coming in over the past decade.

Radical! All the folks says BG is shite....please do remember we currently have options of Robbo, RND and Bindon who hasn't played at this level before!
So lets put BG and our current options into perspective here!
Everton are being quoted £12m just to loan Jack Grealish.......eye watering.![]()
Radio rentals ,instead of permanent signing barmy !!,Spending £3+ million on loan for someone who has only played 19 times in the last two years and only 4 last year is a big no from me.
I don’t mind loans but spending that much on a player who has rarely played in the last few years, forget it. I’d much rather spend that sort of money on McGuire if we could.Radio rentals ,instead of permanent signing barmy !!,

And we no longer have a manager who would get him match fit then leave him on the bench in favour of Robinson. If he’d been playing more regularly then we wouldn’t be in with a chance of signing him. Serie A/Premier League regulars don’t go out on loan to the Championship.
I'm no accountant but I'm guessing weekly wages x roughly 45 (weeks) would be a good place to startHow much do you think the total cost of ownership of a decent Championship defender for a season is, just out of interest
Statistically I like the logic but Mr Woo fits the system much better, you don’t buy a mini tyre for your ford escort just because it’s cheaper. You can now get Gilchrist for 1.5m apparently.
He’s apparently on 10k per week.
So, say he ends up on 15k per week as part of a move, on a 4 year deal.
The total cost for his entire duration is 4.6m. The cost per annum including fee is 1,155m. Any uptick in value is ours and any sale is ours. He can cover right back and centre half.
Total cost of Godfrey on this wages is 3.12m for just one year. Any uptick in value and it benefits Atalanta.
If it were me I’d be stepping away from Godfrey and edging towards Gilchrist.
He had a bit of a wobble when the team did but he absolutely loved defending. Can cover right back and centre back. The Korean lad would take a higher share of the budget and there is no confirmation he would definitely settle. He also doesn’t have experience of covering centre back.
I’d be very tempted for this one. Very good competitive nature too.
£1.5m (or even £2m - £3m) and low wages is too good to say no to, in my opinion. You can now get Gilchrist for 1.5m apparently.

I think bettis will be looking at many many options . He will have Utds and Selles’ best interest at heartFor me it’s simple.
You need options and you have to vary your tactics.
Last season I would say we won at least 10 games where we weren’t the better side, but points win prizes and we did enough through being strong and organised and making tactical changes.
Trying Free flowing football every week with the current squad will not get us promoted.
Ben Godfrey added on his own won’t get us promoted.
But the saving getting AG instead would allow us to get another player in either of better quality in another area like CF, or CB or simply add depth of quality to a squad that is miles away from being deep enough to cover the inevitable injuries, suspensions or dare I say sales.
If Bettis isn’t looking at this then he’s failing in his job for me. The figures quoted for BG are insane…for where we are we can get as good, with recent regular games for far less.
Sooner he's gone the better!Plus next season leaves us with a 33-year old Jack Robinson as our only senior centre back... bit of an embarrassing situation to be in considering the money we've had coming in over the past decade.
We never saw Gilchrist at centre half, so we don't know if he can cover at this level. I suspect he isn't tall enough. He can't see a pass and is no threat going forward. Granted he is a determined and committed defender, but I'd rather give our own lads a chance. The Chelsea connection elevates his true worth in my view.£1.5m (or even £2m - £3m) and low wages is too good to say no to, in my opinion.
Lots of upsides outside of the price: only 21 with a great pedigree, covers two positions (reasonably well) we badly need depth in, not perma-crocked, can play 90mins week in week out if needed, some leadership ability (I’m sure he’s captained Chelsea age group sides).
No way are Burrows and Copper on 20/25k per week. Remember they were league one players when we signed them!I would imagine burrows might be on 20/25k a week and his transfer fee was say £4m (can’t remember the exact values)
