I think Wilder meant it was a ridiculous ask by a club when negotiating a transfer, i.e. a fee or something like that
yes could well be southamptons valuation of bbd if thats their stance we walk away and move on to other targets leicester are doing same with cannon

Yeah exactly, hence the comment about the silly fee being asked by Soton might be what he meant 🤷‍♂️

Most people seem to want to think it's us signing Kyle Walker or some other player that won't happen

It isn't.
Listening to the whole interview it was obvious that the context was about being messed about in negotiations. It would definitely appear to be the BBD deal that he's referring to after seemingly having an agreement in place only for the goalposts to move.

This won’t happen till the cannon deadline has passed-it affects how badly we need him and do the price

The Southampton valuation is true and I'm sure that was the 'ridiculous deal' that Wilder was referring to last week. Everything was agreed for him to come on loan with the option to buy but then Sunderland came sniffing last week and now Southampton want to make it an obligation to buy on promotion with that ridiculous valuation.

They'll be stuck with him for the season then.
Time to move onto Louie Barry...

I am lead to believe from someone who should be pretty sure we had a loan deal all tied up. Then club and agent did upturn and wanted £20m, smacks of Brewster.

I can believe it after Wilder's interview which seemed to reference being messed around.

We shouldn't get tunnel vision and wait, we have too many games before the window shuts and there's plenty more options out there.
It's a shame, but he's Southampton's player and they're entitled to do what they believe is best for them.

Are they taking the piss? Paid 7m and they’ve managed to knock 2-3m off his value.

Having a laugh.

Not at all. They know BBD only wants to come here, they know he could be the difference between going up or not to us, they know we are guaranteed £100m plus if we do go up.

Suspect it will go to the end of the window and depends how desperate they are to offload him. If he stays at Soton then his value drops massively when they get relegated.

Can see us putting something on the table in a take it or leave it style. We must put a deadline on them however as we need to consider alternatives and quickly.

Excellent post.

They paid over the odds when they signed him as well.

The figure quoted will just be a negotiation tactic. They're just after the best price possible. Which will probably end up being less than what they paid for him.

The only issue for them is that the £15 million figure might just scare us off

I’d respectfully disagree. Possible injuries aside, I thought Southampton bought wisely & well with BBD.

They paid £7.5m for a 25yr old international, who’d scored 6 in 14 for a woeful PL side, 45 in 144 for Blackburn and 7 in 35 for Chile.

His ill judged spell in Spain probably shaved between £2.5m and £5m off of his value at the time.

A player is worth what a club is willing to pay.

If Wilder and his team pay anymore than £7m they want sacking

You’d have to say that today, with his spell at Southampton now in the same box as his time in Spain, and rumours of a knee issue, his value is that kind of number (£7m to £7.5m).

Agree, at his age players are at the ⬆️⬅️ or ⬇️ stage of their careers, BBD I’d say is ⬅️

Fully agree. The start of this thread is people saying "If he's available for £7m, we should get him"

£7m was a snip based on his performances for us last season

I think they bought BBD for the price they did because no other clubs were interested in signing him on a permanent for a fee.

I get your point about his record. But clearly he only fits with a certain style of play and that's probably put other teams off
