in fact if you drew a circle on the map with bramall lane at the centre that just takes in hull at its edge we also have derbies with Leicester, wigan, burnley, blackburn and almost, but not quite, wolves
So i am guessing inside that will be our other fierce rivals OLDHAM!!!

And Bradford, and Hudds, and Oldham, and Forest, and County, and Stoke, and Port Vale, and Bury, and Stockport, and York and on and on and on...

Hull are a sort of shit Swansea City; a nothing club historically which has accumulated lots of new fans since big teams started visiting their stadium.

Have some sympathy for Hull fans, this is only the second semi-final they've ever been to and the last was 1939.

They only get 24000 for Home Prem games. They won't be able to sell their tickets, it's a Rugby Town.

They'll be more concerned about relegation than winning the cup by the time we play them.

Seriously though, they are a good club and good folk over there.

That thread is a classic example of a series of idiots spectacularly missing the point. I know that Hull doesn't have the greatest reputation but didn't think it manifested itself that obviously.

Out of the three other sides left, who did United want? The holders, on a great run of form and having just dumped out the favourites? The side currently third in the Premier League? Or the side currently 13th in the Premier League table who will be missing their two strikers as they're cup tied?

Add in the Yorkshire element (like it or not, 'Ull is in Yorkshire) and it was always going to be them that most Unitedites wanted.

The point they're missing is that we're entitled to not be despondent. Yes, we're in the third tier but Clough's is not a third tier side - which is why we've won 6 league games on the bounce without conceding. I don't think any Blade expects us to waltz into the final but at the same time, I have a feeling that they'll underestimate us just like Fulham, Forest and Villa did.

Oh, and we have the Beard. For t'is written in the stars.

PPS Before I read that thread, I had some sympathy for them over the name change. Now I'd quite like to see it changed to "FC Go Go Hull Tigers Roooooaaaar" just to piss them off.

Apparently we're feeling overconfident, the "dregs of Yorkshire" and "retarded minnows".

Nice.

There's a fair bit of mud-slinging towards us on that thread, but really, does anyone on here see them as "local rivals" as they seem to want to make out?

Wednesday, Rotherham, Barnsley, Chesterfield... yeah. But Hull?

It remains the only place I've ever been to where the lass in the chippy we went in had to conclude her drug deal before serving us. City of Culture indeed.

My favourite 2 are the United the same as Leeds just as deluded. Unreal. And the one saying if we're so good beating Prem teams and Champ teams how comes were in the 1st Division?

How thick and deluded are these cod heads?
Past glories is something they mention about us being like Leeds as though having a history and being built up through the community is much worse than a plastic team with no history to speak of, just a recent stadium plonked in their city.
I presume its because we call them on their situation. We could only be deluded if we go on about how great we are. Its just them and MK Dons etc. that we talk about in that light not all teams. I really do detest them.

How comes we are in the first division if we can beat these Prem and league 1 teams? how thick is this twat? This is obviously a guy that's followed football all his life , definitely not a new plastic. They spent 90% of their "history" in the bottom two divisions trying to survive on shit crowds until two inconceivable bits of luck give them the chance to play in the top flight, and they pontificate as though they have been there from inception (a mid table Prem team, not 5 points off relegation team). And to demonstrate that runs of form or teams gelling or a manager finding a formula and good tactics as well as hard work, mean nothing, if you are league 1 (due to previous poor management and bad luck), tells me all I need to know.

They can see it how they like, but why would I give a toss what some in / out of Yorkshire Plastic fan thinks? The only toss I give is that they live up to their reputation of know fuck all plastics, in a soulless stadium.

Damn. I thought this was going to be the latest leak from Edward Snowden, exposing the 'Ull fans as the real shadow government.... :(

WOW - I'm the first one in the list. :o - Infamy - they've all got it infamy

It's all bloody true though - they did gift 'em all

"Sunderland gifted them 3 goals today. We certainly have nothing to fear. " - Kenilworth

Just a trend setter with me Beard Tee and the swagger and lack of under arm stains on me shirt

C'mon you fecking Cup Tarts :D

They have really cherry picked the comments too! There must be as many negative as positive on here.

The biggest club in Europe never to have played in Europe v (maybe) the second biggest club never to have played in Europe. And by then we'll know if we are playing for a place in Europe.

It's pretty desperate picking on the "potentially in europe" thread, we could be dependant on a series of factors, that is just a fact. no one was saying this it's going to happen (except Gavlar )

"Sheffield United fans have always been deluded, they are a lot like Leeds, living under their past glory"

Past glory? What a weapon, I don't think there's anyone alive who could be gloating about the glory years of the late 1800's / early 1900's.

I enjoy that they think we're overconfident given the ludicrous celebrations in their ground following the draw!

I had to go to loads of their games to entertain customers when they were last in the prem and they were just as football thick or plastic then. And we had to have a tour around their ground. The vent system in the concrete alleyways are a delight. It couldn't have been more pop up if they had designed it in ten minutes. I think we will lose but we have a chance. If we had got Arsenal we wouldn't have had a chance.

We have made Wembley many times that to them is glory remember.

Can I ask any Hull lurkers, will you being wearing your tiger outfits for the semi final? Seems the days of being a footballing City are dead in the water for you. You can complain all you like, but the runes are cast. Come on boys, it's called progress, so don't resist, just accept that you're powerless to prevent yourselves wearing stripey shirts in future.

Well it is a Rugby place so like the Leeds Rhino's Hull want a animal name after their city name. Surely.

Ha - The FRENCH TICKLER states that.

"True. Blades fans are more up themselves than the Wendies. Looking at the Blunts squad, Hull City will have to play very badly not to win. Both teams at there best and Hull City will win.
Nothing like a good yorkshire invasion of Wembley like. Shame the beer is not as good. Looks like gassy lager that day."

A. He can't know many Wendies
B. Shows he has no understanding of who is in our squad - but I'll give him the both teams at their best outcome
C. Shows a huge degree of overconfidence
D. Shows he hasn't travelled much - there are some cracking beers from London - I enjoyed a Star from the Portobello brewery yesterday before I caught the train back.

Ha Stuart Blampey states

"I can see us hammering Sheffield not because we're two divisions above them and will try and outskill them, but because we have a very determined group of largely British/Irish larkers who understand the importance of the FAC, and have an English manager.
No way will we be outskilled or outfought."

A. Shows he has no understanding of who is in our squad or who our manager is and what nationality they all are - but I'll give him the potential of outskilling us since they have Huddlstone at the heart of their midfield.
B. Shows a huge degree of overconfidence
C. Shows he hasn't travelled much.
D: Their manager has a face that looks like he has swallowed a shitwasp

Here is an example of why spelling, grammar and punctuation is so important in forum posts. You never know who might cut and paste it somewhere else.

That is why you always put clean pants on everyday, because you never know who might have to take them off.

"A little common sense from SwissBlade ?"

Now I know they're taking the piss :)

They don't have to come on here for long to get a good summary of me ;)

Seriously though I don't think the mood on here has been that were guaranteed to win, I think most have played down our chances. Fact is though that we've beaten four sides we weren't expected to and done it with style, not luck. Hull will need to be at their best but so will we. I watched their game v Sunderland which they won at a canter, not because they were great, they weren't, Sunderland were terrible.

So the semi will be pretty well matched. Personally I felt we were destined to get Man City, but the next best was hull.

As for the rivalry, I never really felt that hull were a rival. I remember one game in the championship where Kenny was winding them up, but other than that they feature no higher than Huddersfield as a rival. They're certainly not a local derby.

My perception of hull is that they've played around the lower leagues for years, had a bit of luck/ money and have done similar to Cardiff. I have no time for teams like hull. Love the owners money, hate him for wanting to do what he wants with the club. Tough shit. The Coventry fan that came on here wanting support because they're now playing in Northampton was the same. Suffer the consequences of allowing a money man to come in.

The one point I wanted to note was that Charlton fans came here with some class and integrity, a decent bunch. We've so far not seen that from hull fans. If they disagree with our confidence they're welcome to come here and discuss instead of spying and sniping elsewhere.

The cheeky bastards copied my post but not all of it, they just picked the bit they wanted. Still at least they are under no illusion about my feelings for them. I don't think they deserve to go to Wembley until at least two generations and the community (not Haslam) have supported them at the level they are at. Its different to Man City in that when Man City were in the third they still got 30k and have always been a "Manchester" club. Obviously loads of Plastics are starting to support them now.
