Saw Basham's goal against Leeds trending on the SUFC Facebook page today, which reminded me where I was on that delightful day.

I was working between shifts in Oxford so went to a pub to watch the game as the only Blade, surrounded by 30 or so very agitated Leeds' fans.

Never had to work so hard to keep so quiet in my life! Sure others can beat it ;)

I went with my mate to watch Wednesday v Hull and sat with the home support in S6.

Even though I was there as a neutral (I was hoping Hull would win) it was the most awkward I have felt ever at a football match.

Felt dirty when I got back home and had to have a shower.

I was on a stag do in Tallin for the Wigan match. The only Blade in a sports bar watching our game. The West Ham match was also on in the same bar, being watched by another stag do...... all Hammers fans.

What is the attraction for leeds in Oxford?

What on earth possessed you?

I've had friends practically beg me to go to the sty in the past when they've had nobody to go with. They were promptly and repeatedly told where to go.

I was in a boozer in Nottingham when we beat Forest 4-3 in the play offs 2003.
I recall an absolute release of emotion the moment I stepped out of the pub. I set off running down the street punching the air letting off cries of absolute joy!
Anyone who saw me must have known I was Blade!

If your scared to support your team in public, then find another team or sport!

In the sixties up to 1971 it was customary for Blades to take the Pigs Kop so went on there 3 or 4 times. By 1979 they had stopped that and segregation meant for the Boxing Day match me and my mate had to pay the turnstile operator on the Pigs Kop some money to let us in. Not the best of decisions but plenty of Blades stood on the lower end.

Was on their North Stand for the nothing trophy match in 1990 when Sheridan scored the winner in a 3-2 defeat. Again ok because they let loads of Blades onto the North Stand because of crushing in the LL and I was already stood with a number of undercover Blades who I knew.

Was on the Leppings Lane for the Bobby Davison game but all my mates were in their North Stand along with hundreds of other Blades.

The only time I've been on my own undercover was the D'Jaffo/ Asaba 1-2 win on April Fools Day 2001. Could only get tickets on their South Stand and there were no fellow Blades faces I recognised walking up the steps. Was sat near the Leppings Lane and it was interesting being pointed at by a Blade over there in a brown leather jacket calling me a Pig.

Pigs sat near me tried to get me into their conversations but I just stared ahead realising that around 10 of their boys were sat two rows behind me.

Pretty drab first half but then D'Jaffo scores in 51st minute and I instinctively jump to my feet. So had a number of Pigs all around me as I hadn't noticed two fellow undercover Blades in the row in front of me had got up first. Got knocked to the floor as Pigs piled in over me as the Stewards carted out the two Blades. Picked myself up and headed for the concourse as other Blades were forcibly being kicked out of the South Stand.

Decided I hadn't been rumbled so went back to my seat. Asaba then scores and I sit on my hands looking down at the floor coughing to hide the big Yes coming out of my mouth. Pigs all stood up mouthing off at the Leppings Lane End didn't pay me any attention. Went for a piss and let out a big cheer in the toilets. Got back to my seat and mayhem again Sibon had pulled one back for the Pigs. Pig tried to got hold of me to celebrate and I pulled my arm away. He looked me up and down and then started talking to his mates. Made my way to the exits as the gates were now open with 10 minutes left.

Walked straight onto the Leppings Lane End and started rodding the wankers who'd been eyeing me up a few minutes earlier. The look on their faces was one of total bewilderment. Pigs have never been that intelligent. Mind you there was this big Blade in a brown leather jacket stood behind me giving it to them as well. :D

Left the ground with fellow Blades in full voice after a Blades win.

Got home showered and disinfected myself thinking I'd done all four sides of the Sty so maybe it was time to just get tickets in the away end in future.

i was curious to see how the other half lived. In other words check out the state of their ground, facilities and the nonsense being talked about.

This was back when Wednesday were on their way: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34493211

I wouldn't do it again though.

Went with a friend to scunthorpe v leeds long time ago. Leeds scored and the leeds fans started singing champions of europe. I was unaware that scoring against scunny made you champions of anything. The delusion continues to this day

I've done

The Shed at Chelsea (September 1973) won 2-1
Millwall home end 1980 or 1981 won 4-1 or 4-0.
Liverpool home end League cup semi final 2nd leg January 2003. Lost on aggregate
Bolton home end 2006/07 lost 1-0
Man City home end 2006/07 0-0
Hillsborough Leppings Lane lower tier September 24th 2017. Think we won that one 4-2
Hillsborough South Stand 2019. Drew 0-0.
Stoke City home end May 2019. Drew 2-2.

There might be more. Just need to be sensible. Not easy. I needed Duffy 24/09/17 when all that bouncing started.
