The good beer guzzlers of Northwich have once again invited us to their beer festival - but this year things have changed quite radically.

Those of us who made the journey over in the past were treated to a cracking evening on the ale in their ground - a tour around the place and a chat with the chairman (whilst he cooked the burgers!) - now the ground has been sold and the club relegated to the Northern Conference Div 1 S. This is a club that only three years ago put Charlton out of the cup!

The fans feel they have had their club taken away from them - mostly because the club has had three successive relegations due to financial irregularities. Imagine how we'd feel if KMcC cocked up the finances and took us to the Conf N  - and the board were making no real efforts to either resolve the problem or build bridges with the fans.

So this year the beer festival is to support the creation of Northwich 1874 - a fans club which aims to bring football back to the town. Northwich Victoria are now playing their "home" games 30 miles away - and they talk about Witton Albion in much the same way as we do the S6 Unwashed.

The festival is to run on 15th June this year - a week later than before.

Tbh - the heartache these fans have been through makes the problems at BDTBL look like a walk in the park -

So if anyone would like another cracking night on the beer with some great company in N. Cheshire - and help these good folks build a football club they can feel proud of - drop me a PM and we'll sort sommat out.

Will have a check of the date, but if we're available it sounds like a plan.

Abridged for the hard of reading......

SheepdipBlade - Both me & big_i are in, drop me a pm or give me a ring if we need a chat about it.

Not sure if Pez ( Green Hornet ) still lurks on here, but thank him for the invitation!

Linz is on holiday, will have a chat with silverfox and see what he says, but at worst, assuming you can make it we'll have at least three Blades in attendance. Just need to have a look at accommodation, as it'd be rude not to take full advantage of the ales!

Any others up for it? was a good trip last time apart from the bleeding England match.

Give him time FFS, he's working as hard as he can on it ;)

My second team were in the running to buy NV's stand to build (at some point) at our Horsfall ground. From what I hear it's fallen through though o_O

But yeah, Sheepdip's right - there's always someone worse of than yourself...hope they can get something worked out to get them back up and running again. BPA did it so there's no real reason why they shouldn't be ale to with some elbow grease and perseverance...

UTB!

Hi All, great to see we may have a few of you coming over to the 1874 Northwich F C Beer Festival. This is taking place at Lostock Social Club as Sheepdip said on the 15/06/2013. Lostock Club seems to have become our new clubs adoptive home, we used it for last years beer festival and have had several functions there.

Sheepdip has asked me to provide info re accomodation over our way, there is a Travel Lodge at Lostock which is little over a mile away from Lostock Club could be your best bet, I will also let Sheepdip have more info re a few B&B's nearby as well.

Please have a look below to give you a bit of info re what has been going on for us former fans of NVFC & the formation of a new club called 1874 Northwich F C. This new club being formed was not a nice thing to have to do but due to what has gone on with NVFC who are now playing home games 40 miles away from Northwich at Stafford this season & if still going are to play home games at Flixton next season (20 miles away) had to be done in the end as we fans had had enough.

Best of luck to you at all NVFC - you're the bread 'n' butter of your Club; something that personage Rushe ought to bear in mind

A bit more of an insight as the the mire that forced the fans to fight back & set up a new club.

If you go to 2:41 on the Cheshire West meeting you will see the three public speakers, the middle speaker is Paul Stockton who is The Chairman of 1874 Northwich F C Supporters Trust, he makes mention of spending 5 months building the wall at one end of the Victoria Stadium (I am proud to have been one of the fans Paul mentions who did this). Paul sums it up where we as fans were re the old club we supported.

The Beer Festival this year will enable (we hope) a decent amount of money to be raised for 1874 Northwich F.C.in it's 1st season of competitive football.

We're booked in accomodation wise, so hopefully we're okay for tickets Green Hornet !

The Travelodge about a mile away is currently £21 for anyone fancying this :)

Spoke to Sheepdipblade yesterday & I think that up to now there are 5 of you attending, tickets put to one side for you. Sheepdip has info re address for the cheque etc & he has said that he will keep me informed if numbers are to increase, will be good to meet up.

Cheers

I'll be there.....some nice beers last time and a warm welcome.

Good stuff, will get your cheque in the post shortly :)

Looking forward to it.

One thing I can not guarantee is the beer in the Town Centre for a POUND. What I can guarantee is the warm welcome.

Big thank you for attending the beer festival. It looks like we have raised nearly £3k for the new club. I must be mad as I decided we are doing another Beer Fest on the 14/06/2014 (all welcome again !!). I thought the new designer wrist watch worn by Ross was great will check out to see if Ryman have some in on Sat, failing that will use my paper mate.

Thought the extra eggs at the pub for breakfast combined with the previous nights ale & kebab was pushing it but guess with the window down the journey home would have been ok ?

Will advise Martin where we are in August when we pop over on the crawl just on off chance few of you can join us. And will keep an eye out for the match next year so can sort out a weekend over there with you.

Cheers

Great to hear that you made a decent amount - don't spend it all on Greenall Whitleys!

For those who missed out - the welcome was a warm as ever (perhaps even warmer as we're becoming known faces now :)) - and the beers and ciders spot on. Turned out to be 6 Blades there - all still standing when there were just 7 of us left at the bar! That's stamina and practiced livers for you!

The story of the new 1874 Northwich is one worth reading about for anyone who's not a Glory Hunter. The fact that so many old Vics fans cared so much about local football that they cut generations long ties with the Vics to return the game to the town is something some of the "Blades" who stopped caring because we're not Premier League cub anymore could learn a thing or two from.

For what its worth I'd love to see our forum continue to support their beer festival and continue to help their fans club on into the future - they deserve it.

Big thanks to Pez and his team for the warm welcome and good beer selection.

Did we turn the lights out as we left??

:D

Yeah lights were off when I returned to tidy up after breakfast, we have a figure of £3300 to be given to 1874 Northwich which is a greater amount than in previous years that was given to NVFC.

This money will enable the new club to start off on a better financial footing in its inaugural year. Planning is now underway for next year's beer festival.

Will chat to you Sheepdipblade when you visit us in August.

Many thanks once again to Green Hornet (Pez) and everyone over there for the usual friendly hospitality, we even got organised a lift back to the hotel and some emergency mini-cheddars.

Was a cracking bar set up, with some good ales and as ever we were made really welcome (even though we commandeered one section of the bar more or less full-time!).

Was good to get a feeling for the situation and chat with the locals, one thing that shone through was the passion to ensure they have a football club, in the rightful place, run in the right way. It must have been a difficult time and a very difficult decision to make moving away from the previous "name". As an outsider, you can really see how it could happen to any of us and at the end of the day, we share the common bond of a love for the game.

I'm glad the figure increased Pez, and happy we were able to contribute (hey, we got some beer, glasses and a good night out in return, so it wasn't that hard!).

We did discuss the prospect (which we also did in 2010) of setting up a friendly next year (close season) between fans of both clubs and that's something I'll look into sorting, drop me a PM if interested people.

Anyway, it'd be good to see a few more Blades in attendance next year, it's a good day/night out with others who like a beer and to chat football!

You never know, it could prove to be a trial match for another friendly game... cough... cough... wink ;)
