Deal runs out 10th January, so wilsons "impact" player wasn't given much of a chance to make an impact today can't see him renewing the contract i expected him to be given a bit more of a chance when it went to 3-2 today.

he'll be given the full match next week in the cup at i think the decision will be made from his performance unless they have a behind closed doors game this week

I expect it to be extended myself till the end of the season

He's come off the bench 3 times, I understand that he needed to at least get some game time before the end of the year to consider an extension, not sure its enough though...

However, there'd be no harm extending it until end of the season, we'll need a player like him in feb/ march when games come thick and fast

My mate who I sit next to at the matches was chatting to him in Vodka Rev last week and when she asked him if he'd be staying his response was "It depends if they can afford me"

Suppose that goes for a few others as well

Thats just a typical big time footballer answer, he would be stupid to turn down any offer from us can't see many teams offering him a contract at the moment with his injury problems. I not sure the offer will be put to him but like i said above i was surprised at the little time he was given yesterday.

Wilson missed a golden opportunity yesterday - 3-2 down - 20 minutes left - what does he do - bring on Cresswell
Beattie in the short time he has been on the pitch has looked ok and appears to have a bit of an understanding with Evans with some smart link up play in the two previous games although hardly had any time whatsoever.
Unfortunately, Wilson bottled it yesterday - he should have thrown on Beattie and said 'Play for your contract'
Instead he went for the 'safe'option - we still don't know if Beattie can last more than 10 minutes - his short term contract is running out!
A fit Beattie firing on three cylinders is far too good for this division - Message to Wilson - he ain't going to win any games sat on his arse on the bench!!!

It's sounded, from a couple of comments DW has made, as though there's been a few games 'behind closed doors' due to the fact there's been no reserve games of late. There's no way they won't have tested him fully in the last few weeks and I'd full expect him to start on Saturday unless you believe the rumours. I can't honestly see clubs queueing up for him.

His extremely dirty Lambo was parked in a disabled spot at BDTBL today. Spose he could see if Lee Hendrie could give it a clean, he needs a few bob.

Bringing Beattie on at 90 mins says to me Wilson dont fancy him.

Also means McCabe has to pay him .........

I'm beginning to think that in football parlance, that Beattie's 'legs have gone'. He was a great player in his day, and did very well in his last spell, but now he seems to be struggling all the time and i think that one this one i will trust Agent Wilson's decision, as i think he has still got a lot of talent, he might not necessarily be what we are looking for.

It's a shame because if it had have come of, he could have been a real talisman, and really got heads up at the Lane, but i think the sad reality might be that he isn't even up to League 1 nowadays, which is a real shame as he was a great player in his day.

Its not worked really has it. However it hasn't cost us a deal (pay as you play) so offload him and lets get on with finding something new/different.

It's only not worked because Wilson hasn't given him a chance!

When Carlisle went 3-2 up Wilson should have sent on Beattie and told him to go out and win it for the Blades!
A couple of minutes is b*ll*cks
Behind closed doors is fine - nothing like the real thing!!
As I stated before Wilson bottled it on Monday-Big Time
If he had failed or broke down then we could have said it hasn't worked - as it is we will never know!

Somehow doubt BT is on a Pay as you play deal. If he was Wilson would have been a idiot to put him on. He's know what his budget constraints are wages wise!!

Lets see if he plays against Salisbury on Saturday.

Id be inclined to start him and lets see what he can do.

What were your thoughts on Wilson during the previous 7 wins out of 7, and where can I find them on here?

UTB

With you on that, last chance to impress. If Beattie's as keen to stay as is portrayed, he'll be banging on the managers door asking him to start!

Very selective yet again Alco, see under Andy Taylor thread my thoughts on Wilson was positive at 5 out of 5

I still say that on Monday Wilson bottled it by putting on Cresswell, what did he have to lose putting on Beattie 'apart from the fact that he isn't fit enough, not sharp enough and will not be the player most of us on here hoped he would this time around! and if that was the case then he isn't worth any contract extension!!!

Yes, a fantastistic run against very ordinary opposition - if we are to get auto promotion we have to win week in week out against the Bournemouths, Hartlepools, Rochdales, and Chesterfields
Unfortunately Alco, I'm a realist and we have lost to Charlton, Huddersfield, Stevenage, and Carlisle out of the top eight and face tricky away fixtures at Charlton, Wendy, Huddersfield, MK Dons, Notts County and Brentford yet!
It's where we finish in May Alco, not after the Xmas Break!
Mr Wilson has done OK up to now, I will judge him at the end of the season but I think he missed a golden opportunity on Monday to give Mr Beattie the opportunity to show everybody he is fit, up for the fight and willing to champion the cause!
We all want promotion this year - I am not wanting Wilson to fail - I just wish he would show a little courage and go for gold - so to speak!

Who are "the Bournemouths, Hartlepools, Rochdales, and Chesterfields" apart from those clubs themselves - a particular form of football speak that winds me up no end!

They are a group of clubs that aspire to consolidate themselves in League One (Division Three), usually have crowds of 6-7,000 maximum and have spent most of their history in the lower reaches of the Football League!
You can add the following clubs to that group:- Bury, Colchester, Yeovil, Walsall, Brentford, Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Stevenage,Exeter City
I consider that the Blades, Wendy, Charlton, Huddersfield are bigger clubs with higher aspirations, larger wage budgets and attract larger crowds
How simple is it?

Interestingly, United, Wednesday, Oldham and Charlton are the only clubs in L1 that have played in the PL, and there are only two others - Notts Co and Carlisle - who have played in the top division in the last 40 years.

For 3/4 of this division getting promoted to the 2nd tier is the height of their ambition.

Have to agree here, I really think DW missed a chance to let Beattie show whether he has it or not on Monday. 2 minutes at the end of three games is no way to judge.
